I thought it was a cover at first also, but I don't think it is. It reminds me a bit of Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" though.

Ha! I am embarrassed to say how many times I listened to this at work today. lol It got a lot of positive feedback on young, black & fab. For some reason, I thought it might be "too pop". The Chris Brown track "Smash" wasn't as warmly received.

Nice summer feel, even if it most likely won't be a single or even make her CD.

just joking, I can't stand Rihanna's voice.

And the song as a cool (temperature cool) feeling, which I dislike. The chords are very ravey, aren't they?

Mission failed, I think. No memorable melody whatsoever. Typical radio rubbish.

I normally enjoy Rih-Rih's schitt but wasn't getting into this song. I wasn't sure how to describe why, but you nailed it!

Yeah, the chords are played with a trance patch. I don't quite understand this current trend in American R&B / Pop -stuff - perhaps it gets played more in clubs this way. Could sound somewhat fresh to ears living across the pond, but for a European that thing sounds like the musical equivalent of a re-heated dinner from 2001.

Basically, I'm just saying that I don't understand pop music of today, which means I am old.

I welcome those 90s chord patterns. Lady GaGa uses them as well, the 90s are gonna come back!

BUTTTTT... the song is still crap. I'm alll for melodies, melodies are the big thing, if the production is more important than the actual song (and that's the case in most pop songs these days) it's really bad.

I miss the days musicians were writing their songs on an instrument? Like gold diggers, they tried to find a melody by playing the right chords...

this has nothing to do with your age. Rihann is shit. I'm 20 and dislike her. I think if someone does quality music it always shows.

But well, on the other hand I think MJ is great, yet my parents never liked his music... they're into the Stones.

Being open is the name of the game, I guess.

So, do you like other current artists then, Bugs

Actually the song has a melody, something that most music these days miserably miss.

even tho i hate her voice,I think the song does have melody, its not that bad at all comparing to the abstract shit we hear always on the radio.

hear the man's version, its better than rihanna's voice.

Mostly I just like listening to the grass moving in the wind on the prairie. Sometimes I have to take the batteries out of the clock in the kitchen so that it won't disturb me with its ticking noises when I am trying to sleep.

I heard a Christmas record by someone called Suftjan Stevens. That boy can sing.

James Fauntleroy's version is the guy talking about a girl that loves him...

Rihanna's version is about a girl that is in love with her...

I like them both, this is just one of those songs that sticks in your head.
