JOE TEX, pre "Hold What You Got" Before Joe Tex hit big in January of 65 with "Hold What You Got" he'd been releasing records since 1955 on various labels, (King and Anna to name a few.) Here are a few of his early cuts.

Joe Tex struggled to find a sound back then. He tried for a Little Richard sound in the early going. His rivalry with James started around 1962 when James took the song he wrote and made it a hit. | |
