As far as the 80s were concerned, 1980-83 were his bright years, he lost me after that. 80s weren't his best years. But he came back like a storm in the 90s untill he passed away. I loved some of his work on Chaka's next album "Destiny" though. Love those analogue synths on cuts like "It's you" (amazinly pretty much all programmed by one bloke), and whilst the production is not as overblown as "i feel for you", I still love the massively (over)produced "watching the world". God I love that song. If you listen closely, you can hear Phil Collins on the chorus LOL. His voice is buried, but he is there Also loved the worked he did with The Bee Gee's on their "E.S.P" album and also the work he did for Boy Meets Girl ("waiting for a star to fall"), where he finally cut back on some of the production. Still classy stuff though. Surprised he did a few cuts with Tommy Page of all people, but they wern't too bad either.

Maurice White For the 80s? For me, his 80s productions don't hold a candle to his 70s productions. [Edited 6/18/09 21:32pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Harlepolis said: Damn I'd add Kashif and Terry & Jimmy though. Good lookin' out on Michael Stokes & Lenny White btw, they don't get alot of props for their craft. Esp Mr.Stokes. Cheers ! It was a surprise finding out that Lenny produced wieth another name sometimes lol. Yeah, Kashif is a good one and i see many other great adds by everyone. I can remember that a buddy brought me a tape which he recorder from a radio-show , but some tracks on there weren't announced by the radio-dj. One of those tracks clearly sounded like a tight Kashif-production, and i started searching like crazy to find it. Took me quite some time lol. Eventually i found out it was on Kenny G's second album :

My two favorites would probably be Michael Stokes(Don`t forget Booker T Jones and LTD`81 lps) and Michael J Powell both great producers.
And here`s a couple more who did great work in the `80`s: Alan Abrahams ( Mystic Merlin,Charles Veal,Beau Williams etc.....) Chuck Jackson (Ren Woods,Michael Henderson,Phyllis Hyman,Donna Washington etc...) James Anthony Carmichael (Atlantic Starr,Commodores) Willie Lester&Rodney Brown (Bobby Thurston,Sharon Redd,Stephanie Mills, Evelyn King,Waldo,Khemistry,Esther Williams) Ray Parker Jr. (Brick,Cheryl Lynn,Randy Hall,Ray Parker Jr. etc .....)
