I don't think so, I've done so many topics I may have forgotten it and I think it was the actual performance by a solo Patti from '85 that I posted.

I'll take a possible repeat LaBelle thread over the countless "Isn't T-Pain awful?!?!" threads any day!

You could cut the emotional tension with a knife,,,,,goddamn those ladies can wail to the angels I know, right? You can definitely feel the emotion. I'll take this farewell song over that OTHER "farewell" by the group from Motown.

Speaking of emotional,,,,
At the apollo. I remember watching that footage in one of her bios and searched high & low for this clip, I'm glad somebody uploaded it. [Edited 6/9/09 17:50pm]

I saw that thread also but when I saw this one listed as simply LaBelle and the other listed as Patti LaBelle, I knew this was the one I wanted to post on. I only like Patti LaBelle solo in the late 70s/early 80s. Beginning in 1985, she became pop and adult contemporary sounding (like sooooo many others) and bored the hell out of me. Andy is a four letter word.

Although I like a few tracks on her 1986 'Winner In You' album,I kinda agree with you.I'd love for Patti to go into the studio with Gamble and Huff and Thom Bell and make a truly soulful album that's reminiscent of her late 70s/early 80s stuff.

I just realized Nelly sampled this back in '04! It wasn't just DeBarge and Teddy P that was taken from the song ("My Place"). That Nelly! I had no idea he was a Patti LaBelle fan (well I should've known, he sampled "Love, Need and Want You" for "Dilemma", lol).

No. Can you explain what happend? At a concert in December 1976 in Baltimore, the girls were onstage getting ready to sing their next-to-last song "Can I Speak To You Before You Go To Hollywood",but Nona didn't sing her part. She just stood at the mike,Then, she stormed offstage, into the audience! They weren't able to do their encore "Lady Marmalade".Nona was in her dressing room, pounding her head against a wall. There was blood everywhere. She was having some kind of breakdown and the ambulance was called. The group was finished.

She certainly does In her book, she also reveals that she had to fight to include "Isn't It A Shame" on the album. The other girls didn't wanna record that song at all. When Patti suggested that she should do a solo album, they went berserk...lol...
