They had a short and turbulant marriage. It was rumored that he beat her. I don't know how this info got around, but that was the general belief about their relationship. Yeah,I have heard that he was very abusive to Stephanie when they were married

It's as if he's saying "See? I don't need you losers".
Howard was acting as if Jody and Jeffrey were easily replaceable but karma has a way of catching up to people. The "new" Shalamar released the album 'Heartbreak' in 1984 and it bombed.Howard pursued a solo career, but Jody got the last laugh when her own solo album was released in 1987.It went platinum, had a whopping five hit singles, and won her a Grammy for Best New Artist. The album might have bombed, but that album did get them 2 more smash singles: Yeah, they had a few hits. But when Howard left in 1985,the group was pretty much finished. They tried to make Micki Free the leader but there was one problem: he can't sing His lead vocals on "Games" and "Circumstantial Evidence" are atrocious.

Jody was pretty big Yeah she was huge. Her first solo album had like, five or six hot singles. Those songs were all over the radio in 1987/88....on the R&B and pop stations. Her follow-up album 'Larger Than Life' in 1989 was also very successful. When she left Shalamar in 1983,she wisely took her time before launching a solo career. She didn't rush things. She went to Europe for a few years, developed a new look and style, then came back to America and kicked ass in 1987.

Yeah Jody was definitely smart in what she did. I've noticed that some artists after experiencing some success and failure will go overseas and then come back and get POPULAR!

Yeah, the tracks pretty much carried the songs. I liked those songs back then. I am not sure what's wrong, but it's probably your fault!

I always thought Prince was... You learn something new, don't you? Maybe Dick Griffy was lying.... He said that the BMA boycotted MTV and fought to get Mike on there, then Shalamar followed him "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I always thought Prince was... lol, there is always some confusion about it.I watched MTV from the beginning and the first black artists I saw were... "Billie Jean" Michael Jackson "Little Red Corvette" Prince "Electric Avenue" Eddie Grant Those 3 videos were added in early 1983.In the summer of 83,they added: "She Works Hard For The Money" Donna Summer "Dead Giveaaway" Shalamar So yeah,it's a stretch to imply that Shalamar were the second black act to be shown on MTV.

Micki Free was hot as hell back in the day.
Jefferey Daniels seems off and what rock did that Delisa chick crawl out from under. That was one of the worst weaves ever "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

okay, now i know the problem with this series, they need to hire some real film makers and interviewers. this show didn't teach me anything new about Shalamar. I found myself bored as hell...the few new juicy bits (like jody's pregnancy) are lightly touched on and then thrown away...a real director and interviewer would probe and find more on the topic.
oh well, it was fun hearing all the old songs and seeing how horrid Jeff Daniels and Howard Hewitt look. What has changed with Daniels' face? He looks odd now. Hewitt just looks like the pimp he has always looked...but instead of working mainstreet he'd be working East Oakland. Space for sale...
