Mary dated Cecil in 1965 (Cecil was barely 18) and they both began working on music together. Mary was already out of Motown by then. I would say around three years later, Curtis Womack convinced her to date him (I'm not sure what went on there) but I think Mary had a heroin habit by this time, I think Curtis was also using drugs too but I'm not sure. Anyway, the couple also had a turbulent affair. I'm not sure if they married or not. But I think Mary left Curtis around 1988 or 1989. Mary then got involved with another guy but had developed throat cancer the following year.
