I"m really feelin POets of Rhythm and Kings Go forth. "Im not too keen on the 80's style overly-synthesized funk. I like Funk like the 70's and even 60's funk. Anymore new bands(beside the aforementioned) that's like that? BTW BEST FUNK THREAD EVAR!!!!! Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Pretty much all artists on our new Funk show are late 60s/early 70s style. Download the show, and you got two hours of new music. It's free. I'm not into overly sythesized 80s Funk either.

This week's Soulstice will be hot, when we'll present The Fatback Band on our show, once of the greatest Funk bands ever. Period.
The Fatback Band is most known for their Top Ten R&B hits, (Do The) Spanish Hustle, I Like Girls, Gotta Get My Hands on Some (Money), and Backstrokin'. Their 1979 single King Tim III (Personality Jock) is considered by many to be one of the first rap singles. But being so incredibly funky on the Soulstice, we'll focus mainly on Fatback's early material, mainly those Funk monsters released on Perception (for samples, scroll down to the YouTube clips). Fatback founder and drummer Bill Curtis will join us live on the show to discuss the group's legacy with us. Tune in this Friday, July 3rd, from 11 pm until 1 am Eastern and listen live at www.wrir.org
