Is this the 12" mix:

I can't see the clip but if it has "Pack Jam" mixed into it, it's not the original 12 Inch. The original has a longer intro which is broken down with less instruments real funky before the other instruments kick in. In the middle of it, it breaks down like that again with an echo of "Lemme see you shake shake shake shake shake". Andy is a four letter word.

How long is this the 12" then? I think it's in the six minute range. The album version is in the five minute range. The 12 Inch is very similar to the album version but with more breakdowns and is longer. The only place I ever heard it was on WDIA in Memphis back in 1982. We used to be able to pick that station up here in Jackson late at night but it would fade in and out. I never saw it in any of the record stores here in Jackson. Hell, we went to Memphis back in 1982 to visit my aunt, I should have looked in the record stores up there at the time. They might have had it since The Barkays are from Memphis. However, that might be it according to how fast someone's turntable is spinning because I found a link to the 12 Inch which is 6:19..... http://www.discogs.com/Ba...ase/921902 There's also a promotional 12 Inch on that site that is 6:02. Well hell, I just saw the album's version which is 5:48. . . . [Edited 6/12/09 14:19pm] Andy is a four letter word.

If I could see that damn clip, I could tell you for damn sure. It's hard to tell just going by the minutes though because all the versions are so close in minutes and since the speed of everyone's turntable varies, for all I know, that youtube poster might have had an extra slow turntable and could be posting the album version. If phunkdaddy sees it, I betcha he could tell you if it's the 12 Inch. I know that 6:19 version on that link is it because it's the actual 12 Inch. I'm scared to order anything off the internet though except for Amazon for fear of someone getting my credit card number and fucking me up. . . . Another option is send ca$h by insured or registered postal mail, or do a transfer by Western Union which takes about half an hour before it arrives at a local Western Union office in the city where the seller lives and where the money can be picked up by that seller.

Just bought the remastered cd in 06. Don't laugh at my funk

[Edited 6/12/09 14:31pm] That's why you use your credit card and not your debit. Most sites are security protected. I used to do Amazon but their shipping charges are a little high. I usually order my music through spun.com and they are really security oriented. I know the 12 inch version you speak of. I wouldn't mind having it myself. I was checking discogs out myself. I want to get Brass Construction IV with Get Up. I have my uncle's old copy but it's scratched. Don't laugh at my funk

OK, I just saw the video on my new laptop I bought Saturday (after connecting to somebody's network that is online in the area ). That's not "Do It" at all, that's the title track to the album "Propositions". I watched bboy's and his is the 12 Inch version except somebody took it and mixed it with Newcleus' "Push The Button". Andy is a four letter word.
