I love this from beginning to end. I'm STILL trying to give their 2000s albums an objective listen The Promise was a great album. I wouldn't put it up there with their legendary 1970's work, but it was a good return to form. I also like the In The Name of Love and Illumination albums too, but The Promise easily outdo those two. Check me out and add me on:

It seemed that with this particular release, they finally came into their own sound and image and both sonically and spiritually, they were on a different level from the rest of their contemporaries at that time. I mean, how can you beat songs like "Serpertine Fire," "Fantasy," "Jupiter," "I'll Write A Song For You," "Love's Holiday" and my personal favorite "Be Ever Wonderful?"
'All N'All' is an amazing masterpiece.A flawless album. On this album, they were really experimenting and taking their music to a whole new level.I remember hearing "Fantasy" on the radio back then...it was such a fresh, exotic sound that was totally new for them! Before they began recording this album,Maurice took the entire band on a vacation to Egypt, which gave them alot of inspiration and ideas. You can hear it in the music. That's truly one of their most inspired albums. Their whole 1970's output (specifically their 1972-1979 period) was brilliant. As a matter of fact, one album I've been listening to alot lately is their I Am album from 1979. That is another killer album
'I Am' is another perfect EW&F album.Every song is mindblowing.Every song on there could have been a single.I agree with you, their 70s output is just incredible. You really can't go wrong with any of their 70s albums. But I have one question: I'm trying to get into their 1980's output a little more and I don't really know where to start. Any recommendations?
Start with 1981's 'Raise'.Many fans consider this to be their best 80s album and it's hard to disagree. It features the major hit "Let's Groove",plus a couple of smooth slow jams, the single "Wanna Be With You" and "My Love".Other noteworthy tracks include the Philip Bailey-led "I've Had Enough" and "The Changing Times",which rocks hard. I also enjoy their 1987 comeback record 'Touch The World'.It's the perfect mix of late 80s sounds and the "classic" EW&F sound that we love so well.On this album, they were able to balance things just right.Highlights include the singles "System Of Survival" and "Thinking Of You" and a couple of excellent slow jams that rank with their best: "You And I" and the haunting "Here Today And Gone Tomorrow".

I love this from beginning to end. 'The Promise' is a superb album with an Old School feel. The first song "All In The Way" sounds like a 1978 outtake. It's got that classic EW&F sound. In fact, two other songs on this album---"Where Do we Go From Here" and "Dirty"---are outtakes from the 'I Am' album. My only complaint about this album is,there are way too many slow songs. It needed more uptempo tracks to balance things out.

Is anybody gonna show some love for 'Millenium'?
I was really impressed with this album. It took me by surprise.Songs like "Wouldn't Change A Thing About You","Honor The Magic","Love Across The Wire","Even If You Wonder","Sunday Morning" and the Prince-written "Super Hero" are superb. The guys aren't doing anything new here and this album is really just an expanded, longer version of 'Touch The World',but the whole thing holds together beautifully and the highlights are plentiful. And while the previous album 'Heritage' found the guys bending over backwards to sound contemporary and hip,on this album they mostly stick to what they know best.

I love this one too! I like to consider this one as their transitional record because they went to the next level artistically. I think this is also the period where they started wearing the outlandish, yet beautiful costumes. The title song just brings tears to my eyes sometimes. Check me out and add me on:
