Hall & Oates Just got into them yesterday and they've released some very good, funky songs.
What do you think of this duo? [Edited 6/15/09 7:59am]

They are very good. Good enough that country's Brooks and Dunn basically stole their on stage act from them. If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

I like B&D. I think Hall and Oates are overlooked. They released many great songs; many of them have become timeless. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

They're classic through and through. True blue eyed soul, following in the steps of The Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald, etc.

I like their blue-eyed soul from the 70s and early 80s. You can keep that Maneater shit, though.

^ Maneater was HUGE back then here in Denmark Prince 4Ever.

I'm of big fan of their sound from the early 70's to late 1980's. I even dig some of their recent stuff, but there is one thing they did that I never will understand:
http://vids.myspace.com/i...d=29995109 This bizarre and scary video of their early hit, 'She's Gone.' Is it me or does it seem like they had some kind of hangover. Watching this makes me feel like I'm on acid. Check me out and add me on:

The fact they arent in the RRHOF being the most succesful duo in history and others are in there, its a crime, no respect "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Watching this makes me feel like I'm on acid. That's crazy. I'd love to know the back story. I'm guessing that their record company insisted on a visual promo and Hall & Oates absolutely hated the notion. And seeing no way around their dilemma they created one for the price of a Happy Meal and invested zero emotion or intellect. Any less energy and they'd be dead. It's funny because it's so awful. The most expensive thing in the video has to be that devil costume. Maybe someone in their crew already had one and so there was literally no investment of any kind.

I hated 'Maneater' also. From the first time I heard it. I had to warm up to 'Family Man' but H20 was such a great album, would've been greater still without 'Maneater.' I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Lol,I love watching music videos from the 70s,before the "video revolution" of the 80s.These early clips are cheap and simple, and sometimes unintentionally funny.

I love "ManEater" It's a cool,catchy,Motown-influenced,New Wave/pop jam! I noticed that, after it came out,we started hearing songs that resembled it: "Part Time Lover" by Stevie Wonder (1985) "Million Dollar Babe" by Stacy Lattisaw (1983) 'H20' is Hall and Oates' masterpiece....their most consistent album.I find that,on the other albums, the singles are great but the other tracks don't always measure up.On 'H2O',even the non-singles are superb.

To me, it's just that they're a duo and that's how most duo's are/were that I have seen. Yarboroh and Peoples, Rene and Angela, The Judds, etc. seem to have very similar stage setups and performances. One person playing a guitar or keyboard and the other person is the principle singer. It's very possible that B&D used the same formula as H&O because they both were Clive Davis products at one point. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I think that's Benny Mardones, 'Into the Night' you're referring to. I still love that song to death. She's just sixteen years old Leave her alone, they say Separated by fools Who don't know what love is yet But I want you to know If I could fly I'd pick you up I'd take you into the night And show you a love Like you've never seen, ever seen It's like having a dream Where nobody has a heart It's like having it all And watching it fall apart And I would wait till the end Of time for you And do it again, it's true I can't measure my love There's nothing to compare it to But I want you to know If I could fly I'd pick you up I'd take you into the night And show you a love Oooooh, if I could fly I'd pick you up I'd take you into the night And show you a love Like you've never seen, ever seen Yeah, Ooooooh.... I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
