Teena Marie - Milk N' Honey; for those tryin' to keep the faith

If you are one of the many waiting around for a Square Biz, or Sucker, or I Need Your Lovin'...

Milk N'Honey baby! This lyric and song title is culled from a John Lennon album, and the song asks the question - what more can I give my daughter in legacy or gift than transcendent music as I was offered in my youth. Her daughter, Alia Rose, sings on this track and throws a little Roger Troutman flavor in toward the later parts of the song. Listen to this on the absolute best sound system available to you. Careful what you ask for, and of the bass. Listen to this one at least twice if you don't love it the first time around. Bangin'!

There are a few other faster tunes to be appreciated on Congo Square. You Baby!! Ear Candy!! The Pressure!! I am not really feeling Can't Last A Day too much; hatin' on the introduction to it.

Slow cuts that I love best: Marry Me and The Rose N' Thorn ("I am ... the thorn ... that wants to be the closest to the rose."). Some exquisite Paul Riser string arrangements; Google him if you don't know.

I like Milk n honey. I think it's cute Alia rose sing the
metaphors the way mom does. I also dig the uptempo Ear Candy 101,
and the Pressure. I don't like it's you baby too much.

I dig the Milk N' Honey track too. It's a catchy number that brings Teena's classic style into the 2009 dance scene. But the one song that is getting repeated plays off of the new album is "Soldier (with Shirley Murdock)." I'm getting used to the Congo Square CD now...
