Just Friends and Breathless from the June release The Real Thing

Nice dinner/candlelight music but I hope there are some uptempo songs on the album.

I just downloaded this album (shhh....I can't say where I got it). It's not bad. I love the single, "Breathless".

are there any mid or uptempos cuts?

Not feeling that material.

Now this, chirrens, is a REAL triple threat.

Not really. It's all a latin type album without the uptempos and mid-tempos. All of the reviews say it's an album of remakes, but I didn't know a lot of the songs.

Vanessa Williams - The Real ThingCan you believe that It's been more than 20 years singer-actress Vanessa Williams released her first album? It's true: the ex-beauty queen's debut, The Right Stuff, dropped in 1988. Vanessa's been focusing more on acting in recent years, but her 13th album, The Real Thing, comes out June 2. The album, which is her first for Concord Records, features two new songs ("Loving You" and "Just Friends," both written by Babyface), plus remakes of tracks originally recorded by Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Bebel Gilberto and others. The first single is a smooth, adult contemporary song called "Breathless," which you can stream by clicking the link below.

I didn’t know it was remakes either! I think I heard that way early on and then I thought the concept changed when I heard about the Latin twist. Oh well, I’ll take it either way.

She has a wonderful voice, is mature, beautiful,
and I love the touch of Latin flavor....Breathless
is beautiful...I'd definitely consider buying this.

The album was released today. I am stunned by how many slow songs are on it. I’m talking candle lights, a glass of wine and then snoozeville. The title track and last song are midtempo and that’s it. She can’t even do her dance number for these songs. Just pull out a stool or lean on the baby grand. Oh well. Still love her.

I know! She's got more fire in her than this. I'm not going to see her shows either if she's going to be doing this lounge stuff. I almost went to see her before the album dropped and she was performing the new material. I'm glad I didn't. I would have been hot. Although live, I'm sure the music is beautiful, and she's a great performer, yadda yadda but why is she acting like 47 the new 87? Put some pep in it dammit. Natalie's got more uptempo grooves than this. I want her to do the house mix of Work To Do!

Okay, I really like the album.

I like breathless and a couple of other tracks.
I'm kinda on the fence with it. I like it but
not enough to rush to the store and pick it up
like teena marie's forthcoming album.
Still dig vanessa though.

I borrowed it from a friend. It's not a favorite but more enjoyable than I thought. I like some of the musicianship. Definitely an after dinner disc.

Ooh, thanks. I missed her on everything except for Conan. She was also on Wendy Willaims where she implied that Rick is being less than a good father but fortunately her first husband is great. she also said she was tired of being asked about Ms. California or whoever for that pageant thing. Different time, different place.
