Is this a good place to start with The Supremes? So I picked up this 3 disc set last time I went shopping cause the price was incredible, but would you say this has most of their definitive songs on it?
I've really been wanting to hear more of their music since hearing a mixtape with a couple songs from them on it that I didn't recognize Here's what I got... http://www.amazon.com/Pla...B0016CP1RI If you will, so will I

It doesn't have Flo's lead on "Buttered Popcorn" but you can probably find that as a single mp3 somewhere.

I'd say the boxed set or the Gold collection, but the on you mentioned is a good "hits" compilation.

SIX albums in 1965 alone? Damn they worked artists back then! I can't imagine a modern artist having 2 full albums released in one year, let alone 6.
Imagine if they'd been around in the reggae era..."Supremes Sing Marley, Buring Spear, and Cliff" or the hip hop era "Supremes Rap H-D-H", "Supremes Sing 50 Cent" and the list goes on. That Berry They're just lucky there was no such thing as the net. They'd be toast.

And even more odd was when Marvin started he wanted to be a jazz singer, Motown insisted he do R&B yet they still allowed him to do jazz albums until it was obvious where the money flew. Even more odder he pushed the jazz/Broadway stuff on the Supremes after they got popular with the mainstream.
