I thimk she should just retire now. The marriage to Nick Cannon, a huge publicity stunt in my opinion, only hurt her image.

BTW, what would you expect from an indie film that barely got any distribution, virtually no publicity, and only played on 15 screens? Retiring from what? Singing? It's not a musical, to my knowledge, so how does retiring from singing have anything to do w/ a bad movie? Plus, I've seen NO promotion for the movie AT ALL. I don't even see the trailer on my AppleTV, and they update those trailers very regularly, and EARLY. "UP" was on there last fall. Star Trek was on there a year before its release. NO trailer for her movie. If it opened to just over $600 per screen, that's the movie company's fault. Not saying the movie isn't bad, but if the movie company didn't even believe in it, why not send it straight to DVD instead and sweep it under the rug a la Jessica Simpson's Blond Ambition?

(the reason this is an issue, is because that people see low numbers and think bomb for anything, but when you break down $$ per screen you find the opposite with alot of what we call bombs)
And if the movie sucks per say, how is it her fault??? she has nothing to do with anything except her part, blame the writers, the director, the cinematography, Mariah is not even on the list of people to blame if this movie sucks. so this article is MEANINGLESS.

I"ve actually seen Precious. What an excellent movie! Mariah Carey is great in it, but it's a very small role. Mariah seems to be trying to make "Precious" her movie and it's NOT. Still, she is good in it but you can't call it a "star turn" because it's just a bit part.

Man, that's hilarity at it's finest right there. He's not even on her level; never has been and never will be, so that's what actually makes me think that she probably genuinely loves his goofy ass. But anyway, if the movie wasn't getting publicity, of course it's not going to do well. Nowadays, people have to see a movie trailer every hour to even be interested in a film and big names don't always bring in moviegoers. If the movie doesn't have any special effects or a shitload of press, it's probably going to bomb no matter how good it is. I watched 'A Mighty Heart' with Angelina Jolie in it and even though the movie was a box office flop, it was extremely good, but "Wanted" broke box office records on it's opening weekend and the plot was weak as hell and the acting wasn't anything spectacular, but the special effects were excellent. People who use box-office numbers to classify a film as being good or bad seem to be the same type of people who use the Billboard charts to determine whether an album is good or bad. Just because numbers are high, doesn't always mean it's great. Just my
