But everyone is assuming that Minnie would have been a huge star if she'd lived and I am not so sure. I mean, she was pretty much an underground artist and I don't know if the 80s would have been kind to her careerwise. Maybe if she had gotten with Clive Davis. Did her husband remarry after her death? Yes, Rudolph did remarry, I think 8 or 9 years ago? Their children are now ages (Mark) 31 and (Maya) 26 respectively. Ramsey Lewis was a big fan of Minnie's and helped launch her career. As I've mentioned before I first saw her in '70 at the London House she was introduced by Mr. Lewis and she sung songs from (her debut album) "Come to My Garden": a classic album everyone should have in their collection.

Aren't Mark and Maya in their 30s? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I wouldn't say she was an underground artist..... "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

This is one of my favorites by Minnie. Her high octave range is off the charts! The message you are about to hear are not meant for transmission. Should ONLY be accessed in the privacy of your mind. Words are so intense so if you dare to listen.Take off your clothes and meet me between the lines.

Anyone have any Youtube/daily motion links to the Minnie documentary and any other of the 'Unsung specials'? (I've seen the Debarge & Donny episodes on Youtube) as they don't air them over here.
Also, regarding the Q connection, this might also be to do with MJ's involvement on a song called "I'm in Love Again" where he sang the backing vocals.

Ah, there's was such a beautiful love story. That's the main thing I took from the documentary. And hubby aged well, too! I was expecting him to look like Colonel Sanders.
Her children look JUST like her. And it looked like she spit that son out when he was little. Speaking of, I ain't trying to be messy--really I'm not--but was the son the hubby's child? I get the impression she may have already had that child when they met but the documentary glossed over that fact in order to preserve the love story.

This was a great documentary, really sad near the end and I had a lump in my throat.

Best thing about this Unsung episode for me was...
I did not know about that Andrea Davis shit before watching this. I thought the story started with Rotary Connection.

Haha, nah, Minnie started the same time as Patti and Aretha, it was just that she was only a star in Chicago (which was a shame even back then because she had potential even back then).

Sarah Vaughan was just a singer? I think not, that's about the silliest statement I've heard in a long time! I don't have the time nor the space to explain Ms. Vaughan artistery.
