No. They are 2 different artists. Rahsaan has never been gospel. Rahsaan was a child actor on Kids Incorporated then he went on to do other music as an adult.

Not sure about Tonex's background, but he has always been a gospel artist.

wow, my notion was completely coincidental. From what i understood, tonex had put gospel down for a secular career. when i saw the wine and spirits debut i put two and two together... shrug dunce

you must admit their is a resemblance... smile

Tonex is corny to me...I like how he used to dress controversially to challenge church people but his music... sad

i never thought he was corny, just troubled. and he just wanted the church to see , not only him, but his environment.

Ok..

I thought it was interesting how after he was dropped from his label and got a divorce, he went on a Gospel radio station in CA and blamed all his problems on the church...umm..sure..

I didnt realize this was going to be hard but let me break it down..I just found it interesting that a lot of people who have struggles in church(been there, done that) tend to blame the church mainly yet take little personal responsibility themselves...

lol @ the P&R reference. lol

Listened to Tonex from the nearly apocryphal debut album to his last CD, I believe.

T's always pushed the boundaries (topically, musically, visually). He can sing like nobody's business and is apparently extremely creative and opinionated. In any context, you're bound to get a sort of maverick, with that mix. In gospel, it's proven even more incendiary because the same guy who once was given labels like visionary and "just what the Church and gospel industry need" was quickly seen as being too worldly.

It's also worth mentioning that Tonex fell into the battle of ruffling traditional gospel folks' feathers. He made efforts to incorporate familiar, traditional elements into his projects (and those, such as the grammatically challenged "God has not Forgot," tended to be the singles that got the most airplay. This has ticked him off, I'm sure.

On the spiritual tip, Christians can be cautionary because exhortations to connect with the world often are seen as gateways to befriend the world. What started out as T's position against judgmentalism seems to have evolved into I'm just going to be me. In recent years, he's come off as dealing with a whole lot of "church hurt."

I'm sure he has long suspected that he could be a superstar if he performed secular music. If that's what he winds up doing, I'm sure he'll devote significant portions of his concerts to his gospel hits. He's someone to watch, whatever he chooses to do. Sorry to hear about the divorce.

I've seen him in a few videos and heard him sing, he's definitely a unique performer in gospel music. Obviously one that pushes a lot of boundaries.

I love the Org. You spend 5 minutes typin' out a mini-summary of a performer's life and miss out on serious discussion to gossip about sexual orientation...

That's the way it's run in the ORG. The Halle/Jamie kissing topic turned into a rant about black love not being shown much in the mainstream because of Halle's choices of leading men. falloff I had to stopped taking part in it. lol And I don't know why that thread was bumped. lol
