So I'm presenting it instead. Disregard the "Disco Heaven" discussion below. This is a 7+ minute video, so get your popcorn ready. GaGa is bringing the theatrics! The music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who has previously directed music videos for artists like the Smashing Pumpkins, Madonna, Moby and U2.
In an interview with The Canadian Press on May 26, 2009, Gaga cited her video as "the most amazing creative work that [she's] put together so far."[20] She went on to describe the idea behind the video and the message it gives. She said, "It has a real, genuine, powerful message about fame-whoring and death and the demise of the celebrity, and what that does to young people.[...] The video explores ideas about "sort of hyperbolic situations" that people will go to in order to be famous. Most specifically, pornography and murder. These are some of the major themes in the video.[20] The video will premiere at 12:05 am on June 4, 2009 broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel 4. When all the Katy Perrys in the worls will be forgotten, GaGa will still release new songs! She def has the skills and intelligence to achieve long-term success as long as her music is good. Her next album has to be the shit and she'll convert even the haters into GaGaists. | |

It's interesting to me because how many pop chicks have come into the game emulating and saying that they want to be the next Madonna? The problem is, while they copy the bustiers and tried and true video themes through their costume changes, they never really hit upon any ideas or concepts, they just sort of play dress up and dance to their shitty pop songs. Make no mistake, to me,even Madonna isn't original in terms of what themes she explores, you can pretty much tell exactly what books she's reading and what fine artists she's into based on the videos she does, and that's okay. At least she takes a concept and ruuuuuns with it until our eyes bleed and she provokes or pushes the envelope to remind you of a piece of something you saw in a cinema or museum, read in a book, etc. Gaga gives us not only the shitty dance music and the bodysuit sexy look, but then she throws in tongue in cheek social commentary with some fucked up nods to 70's and 80's pop culture references. When her boyfriend snapped the fuck out of her neck it was perfect--- like a 70's Bains Du Soleil meets 80's Calvin Klein Obsession ad directed by Lynch or von Trier . When she got her broke ankled-crippled ass out the wheelchair for the sychronized dance I pretty much went 
All in all, I really like this kid (for now). Seems like she gets the joke. | |

All in all, I really like this kid (for now). Seems like she gets the joke. I think she's really amazing. She's smart. She keeps telling all those silly stories, like she wears never panths so that her nearly-blind grandmother can identify her, or something. The next steü would be that she talks about hot social topics like Madonna did with homosexuality, feminism etc. | |
