Peven Everett -- one to check

As a Prince friend from way back, I am always on the look out for new, singular and mercurial talents. Prince has set the benchmark by which I judge other musicians. Few measure up in terms of output, diversity and span of talent. One such rarity that I have come across is another idiosyncratic cat from the Midwest (by way of Chicago) named Peven Everett. If this name is new to you - do yourself a favor and get acquainted. Peven is also a multi-talented musician (keyboards, bass, drums, guitars and trumpet - all of which he has mastered);a learned singer with a pleasing soulful ache in his voice; song writer - he has given the underground a number of classic anthems (songs such as Gabriel, Stuck, I can't believe I loved Her, Testing me, Everyday Girl, etc). His music is instantly recognizable - distinctive programming, complex interplay between dense rhythm and evolving/soaring melodies, lyrical structure, and instantly memorable hooks. He also is prolific - independently releasing at least 7 full length DIY cds over the last 2 years, 5 of which are five star masterworks (Power Soul, Reflections of Misconceptions, Peven, Dear Europe and his latest Beyond the Universe). He is also a talented producer cultivating an interesting stable of artists such as Billie Jewel. This brother's work is not the easiest to find but he is definitely worth tracking. Heads know - he's a brother to send Mr. P. Rogers Nelson back to the Lab to recapture the lost fire ( my opinion). Peven Everett -- one to check. Are folks up on him?

He's criminally ignored. Each release seems to go from strength to strength. Check out Beyond the Universe -it's a must for he summer.

Check the mix on nu wave radio:
