Adam Ant has slimmed down and recovered from his mental health problems and now wants to relaunch his career with a comeback tour. Adam Ant is planning a comeback tour. The 'Prince Charming' singer - who spent a year in psychiatric care after being sectioned in 2003 - has put his health problems behind him, slimmed down and feels "reborn", thanks to new girlfriend Clare. He said: "I've been hitting the gym and walking a lot. I feel great, better than I have in years. Clare has also been making sure I eat only the finest, healthy food." At his lowest point, 54-year-old Adam - real name Stuart Goddard - was arrested for waving an imitation pistol at pub goers in 2002 but now insists he is back from the brink and ready to thank his fans for their support with a run of shows. A source said: "He has been through so much but gradually he's been getting back on his feet, thanks to the support he's been given in his personal life and by his devoted army of fans. Nothing's been set in stone in terms of dates but there are meetings going on at present to plan shows. "It's undeniable he's looking amazing at the moment if you think about where he was only as few years ago." The twice-divorced star shot to fame with his group Adam and the Ants in 1980. Following a string of hits, the group disbanded in 1982 and Adam went on to enjoy a successful solo career before turning to acting in 1985. He later failed in several bids to relaunch his music career. He was awarded the Icon accolade at the Q Awards last October. Source: http://www.contactmusic.c...ck_1105907 Prince 4Ever.

What do you mean "why"... ?
I was really into Adam Ant in 1980-1983, before I discovered Prince in 1983.. Ant really wrote and performed some greats songs and those indian (?) rhythms are brilliant, the look was hot... the "pirate" style, My first Adam Ant single was Stand & Deliver, I played it to death, memories.. then I bought the earlier Kings Of The Wild Frontier, a brilliant album, I think it won a Brit Awards for best album (?) these are 3 amazing videos/ songs all hitting at #1 in the UK: Adam & The Ants - Stand and Deliver Adam & The Ants - Prince Charming Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes am I alone here.... for thinking these songs are great... ??? --- [Edited 6/10/09 15:25pm] Prince 4Ever.

[Edited 6/10/09 15:58pm] I used to have this on vinyl too, but I only like "Cartrouble" on the debut, iirc... the other CDs has been re-mastered as well: [Edited 6/10/09 17:05pm] Prince 4Ever.

Maybe it's because it's pre-Marco? He hadn't discovered the tribal/pirate thing yet. Totally different band, too. But I think at some point his image became more important than the music, and it hurt his career (though I like that stuff, too). But Dirk is just straightforward music--something that would especially appeal to those who hate Adam's style. I think the second half suffers a little bit from weak material but the first side is flawless. [Edited 6/11/09 10:23am] [Edited 6/11/09 10:24am] My Legacy

Dirk Wears White Socks is my fave by far but then I'm an old punker. I like the Ants albums well enough but the solo stuff starts to lose me around the time of Strip. They've already got the heavy tom-tom thing going and the "oh-ee-yeah!" yodeling in the choruses. And it's funny too. I mean... Beat My Guest? Hilarious!
I did see him live once, around the time of Vive Le Rock, and he was great. I'd so see them if they came round again, especially if Marco's on board.
