But not alot of todays rappers can...and bootylicious I dont know why you still talkin, you say he raps about killing women, but in the same time he raps about raps about killing and raping men too...he has a whole entire song about getting done from behind and inserting a Gerbil; what do you mean? This shows you dont even know the half...

Meow and Booty you guys are the main ones ratting on him when you dont even own an album or even care about his music...yet you care enough to show up to all his topics...even though this is not one you laid yourself in 3 discussions about him ..what does that say about you?

It says my ears work, and that I give a shit about quality music. Eminem is not it, and it bothers me that jackoffs like him get so much notoriety and fame when truly talented musicians and rappers get left in the dust. The guy is a joke.

I'm not really an Eminem fan though some of his songs are cool and I owned a couple of his cds, all I keep reading is how he's washed up and his new album sucks. Is this because the man decided to take a break in order to deal with his personal life? I think the music industry is so fickle and if you turn your back for even 6 months people label you as "washed up" or a "has been". I used to think Beyonce should take a break but maybe she shouldn't God forbid....

Everyone has the right to a life away from the audience and cameras and if they can't take that and wanna call people "washed up" or say "they suck" in the words of the late great Bernie Mac in "House Party 3"...."FUCK 'EM!!!! FUCK 'EM, UP AGAINST THE WALL WITH CRAZY GLUE ON THEY LIPS"!!!!

Real skillz? Excuse me? The bitch doesn't do anything but whine about his mommy, his ex-wife, and rag on other celebrities like some insecure 12 year old. As for "how hard it is to tell a story and make it rhyme and make it make sense?" Horseshit, my friend. Poets have been doing that for hundreds of years before Marshall Mathers came around.

U ever listen to a cd of Eminem of only to the singles? Do u ever tried to rap? Or make a hip hop song urself? I mean u can say he have no skills cause "Slim Shady" Raps about Celebrities and about his ex wife & mommy he isn´t whining he makes from the situation a joke, u never heard that u better can laugh at the negativity than be depressed? And a other thing do u have listen to the serious songs like Sing For The Moment or Beautiful?

Hip Hop Lyrics my friend are poems, but that isn´t so difficult to learn, the difficulty comes when u wanna spit it trough a beat & melody, Eminem Spit in is own style, he is one of the best freestylers in the hip hop scene.

A poem is different 2, a hip hop lyric u most look 2 the wordplay 2 plus u most have minimum 10 lines (verse) and a chorus and than again 10 lines when by a poem u can have only 4 lines and it is a poem. But still hip hop Lyrics came from the art of the poet. And if u want a sample of a poem and a lyric I can show it.

I have had the misfortune of hearing an Eminem album all the way through, thanks. I came of age when he was at the height of his career so whether I wanted to or not I heard it all. I don't need to rhyme myself to know that what he does is only okay at best, and his scope is severely limited and adolescent.

All song lyrics, no matter the genre, are a form of poetry. And all vocalists, no matter the genre, have to learn how to match their words to a beat. Hip hop is a certain style of poetry, it is not a seperate thing from it.

nobody is more talented as Em nowadays, with the Dirty South rapping how they get girls, bling bling or cars. U only look one part of Eminem (the side of Slim Shady, he´s alto ego) look the side of Eminem/Marshall. maybe u are suprised, he don´t only rap about Celeb & his ex wife and his mother like u say.

One thing is that non-fans have no sense of humor when they think of Eminem. He is funny as all hell when he wants to be. As if rappers cannot be comedic and serious in the same time is a fault in your eyes.

I'm saying he is the ONLY mainstream rapper that has rapped about himself overdosing on drugs, trying to kill himself, being raped as a kid, being the rapist, give love to his family and cann dumb celebrities all on the same record and can still be taken seriously among hardcore rap genre. I still to this day have not heard a better storyteller a better comic humorist and a vicious spitter on the mic. Now I'm not saying he is the grandest or the best...however he is one of the VERY FEW left in the dying genre who only speaks on his mind and reality. he never raps about things he doesnt have or how much more money he has than his fans. Why people don't appreciate this about him is beyond me.

Well forgive me for not thinking rape is hilarious. What kind of a mentality does it take to think sexual assault is ever funny? confused

Hate to break it to you, but Eminem is not taken seriously by serious artists. He's taken seriously by money-grubbing record execs who know a good cash cow for the gullible and apparently deaf public to buy into,

Eminem is good, but I think Jay-Z and Common are outstanding. I've always been very fond of Snoop Dogg, Tupac, and Queen Latifah (who has gone on to trying different sounds which I commend her highly for). One of the things that I think about when I listen to any genre of music is whether the song will sound dated or timeless as time goes by. Many hip-hop/rap artists have music that never sounds dated to me (Tupac being a prominent on..."Keep Ya Head Up" will never sound old IMO). With parody songs, sounding dated is somewhat inevitable (sorry Weird Al sad ) and Eminem loves doing parodies. Most of his older parody songs include celebrities who are no longer that big of a deal, so it dates the songs no matter how good and funny they are.

Personally, there are quite a few rap and hip-hop artists who I think are just as good as Eminem, like Outkast and Nas. I'm still impressed with Twista because he raps faster than any other rapper out there (check Guiness book of records) and you can actually understand him. Even though I think Eminem is a talented artist, I often wonder if he would have been as popular if he wasn't a white guy. It's not a factor that I think takes away from or adds to his actual music, but it is definitely a factor that I believe really helped him gain large amounts of popularity and publicity in the beginning of his career. When a song like "Life" or "If I Had" or "The Way I Am" or "White America" or "Mosh" comes on. When the REAL man behind the funny mask makes me think about things rappers are too scared to say. Or not intelligent enough to speak on because they are scared of their record company.

Hate to break it to you, but Eminem is not taken seriously by serious artists. He's taken seriously by money-grubbing record execs who know a good cash cow for the gullible and apparently deaf public to buy into,

I think you are thinking of the new Coon song "Whip It Like A Slave" by Dem Franchise Boys..something Emeinem would not dare create. I think you are putting Em in the same category with lame rappers like Soulja Boy, or the guy who made "Laffy Taffy". You are putting Em with people like Akon & T-Pain..and he doesnt deserve that or belong there.

Money hungry exects are going after the coons of rap music these days...not people who can actually write some good stuff like Jay, Nas, Kanye and Common. You are really taking him way out of context in comparison to these bullshit rappers out now. If u don't like Em just because u dont want to then just stop listening and talking about him.

i say again:
He never raps about things he doesnt have or how much more money he has than his fans. Why people don't appreciate this about him is beyond me.

Yes I don't think he would have gained popularity if it wasnt for him being white. He knows that and addressed that on several songs. He knows he would be nowhere without Dre. He knows he would be nowhere if he didnt rap about crazy shit that made people freaked out. He is the to rap as Madonna as she was to pop in her hey day. No one was like her...and still to this day, no one is like him.

Why, again, should I think rapping about rape is hilarious, or a sign of true talent? Why is whining about mommy the mark of Em's awesome "skillz"? (it is spelled with an s for God's sake) I already said I have listened to quite a lot of the guy's music. But even in his serious songs, he's not saying anything bold or new or challenging. "White America, I could be one of your kids!" Yeah, like he's the first guy to point out white middle american hypocrisy and fear without bothering to do anything about it. rolleyes

And listened.....

And I KEPT ON listening, and the more I listened, the more I discovered "Bitch traits" from Slim Cheesy.

If people likes him, fine & dandy. Don't think I don't "get it" just for recognising a novelty act, I've been trying to give dude the benefit of the doubt but so far he got nothing worthwhile to show for except a waste of gimmickry. NOTHING about this guy's music makes me stop and think, absloutly nada.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Another difference between Eminem and "Poets" is that Poets and most other writers try to evoke some feeling. Rappers aren't saying anything that will stand the test of time. Alot of Artists won't stand that test so they want to get as much out of it as they can while they are still hot.

My experience with his music has been different and we just have to accept that and move on.

When I heard his music..NOT LIKING "Hi My Name Is" by the way..I HATED that song and all his other dumb first singles...it took the other tunes to draw me in. I was not expecing him to rap about killing his wife because she cheated..I just never heard anyone rap about that...I never heard anyone talk about trying to save a girl overdosing from mushrooms, I never heard a rapper talk about what happens in trailer parks...I hardly even knew they exsisted. I really didnt even like rap music all together. He was one of the artists that birthed my like for the genere....starting with Lil Kim..then to LL..then Biggie, Jay-Z and then Em afterwards...

You don't have to be a got damn poet to rap a good line and have a unique distinguishable clear voice. You don't have to be fucking Prince or Johnny Cash to play a guitar and sing well. I'm saying what for what he does he does alot better than mainstream artists out. If he were just an underground artist he would not even have people that don't like him. Yes he uses gimmicks, yes he says dumb stuff, but then i hear something else he says..or the way he says it..or the way I am actually getting a good story out of his music that drew me in and made me a fan again.

Maybe I'm just glad he like Mos Def, Common, Nas or Q-Tip that he doesnt sell his music with black women shaking their ass on a pole in a club, or sitting in a Porsche having a party and drinking. But ..no one cares about that hrmph. I'm done. Call me riding his dick but ya'll stoop by prince side when he done the dumb shit too..but because u know he had that fucking SPARK that brought u in..you are hooked...and u love him anyway.

Let me be a fan will ya? Leave it alone now.

With Bootylicious sittin there defending Young Jeezy blackass..shut that shit up...
