Believe it or not, I never saw much of Springsteen live till the Super Bowl and I was impressed.

a few songs of that performance were aired too , it was fab

Not to threadjack, but I attended an AMAZING seminar/talk given by Martin Atkins (drummer with Public Image Ltd, Killing Joke, Ministry, NIN - that's him in the Head Like A Hole video and playing on the song Wish, and leader/founder of the group Pigface that Trent did the song 'Suck' with). As far as fan relations, Bruce doesn't bother constructing a mystique that separates him from regular folks. The average guy persona is a lot more appealing to a wider range of people.

One of my favorite stories is during the Darkness on the Edge of Town tour (1979 or so), two fans ran into Bruce at a movie theatre in Denver. Bruce was catching a movie in the early afternoon.

The dudes invited Bruce to one's home for dinner and he came. The guys were young, and still lived at home. The fellow said he called his mom and said, "Mom, make an extra meatloaf because I'm bringing a friend home for dinner". Moms asked who, and didn't believe it when her son said it was the Boss.

But it was! He had dinner with them. How cool is that?

I did look at the pics on the link. I remember him having a similar look on his face at the Super Bowl too. Clearly people are more than just a means to an end for him and it shows.

I have never heard of him having a diva moment...has it ever happened?

Don't know about the rockstar thing, but Bruce seems like a guy I'd freely let fix my automobile. Anytime.
