Top 10 Music Sales This Week (Eminem #1 again)

Brüno's nearly bare derriere might have (fake) chased Eminem out of the MTV Movie Awards, but getting a face full of thong didn't hurt the real Slim Shady's staying power on the charts.
Eminem has been tirelessly hyping his Relapse for weeks, capped by the staged weekend stunt with Sacha Baron Cohen in which the rapper was the literal butt of the joke.

And all that work is paying off.

Relapse recorded it second straght week at No. 1, selling another 211,000 copies for the week ended Sunday, per Nielsen SoundScan numbers released today.
The rapper joins Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson as the only solo artists to notch multiweek chart-toppers this year.
Now here's the truly impressive part: Eminem sold nearly as many copies in his first two weeks as the girls sold in their nine chart-topping weeks combined 819,000 copies to 830,000!

While Em extended his chart rule, a couple of other M&Ms also made a splash.
Marilyn Manson, led all debuts, selling 49,000 copies of The High End of Low at No. 4. Unfortunately, that's his lowest first-week figure this decade. Meanwhile, Mandy Moore sold 16,000 copies of Amanda Leigh to open at No. 25 bow. Though the new Mrs. Ryan Adams never had particularly big first weeks, her albums haven't achieved gold sales status since the early aughts.

Among the other newcomers: Wisin & Yandel's La Revolución moved 36,000 units at No. 7 to become the top-charting Spanish-language disc in nearly three years, while Brooklyn indie rockers Grizzly Bear followed at No. 8 selling 33,000 copies of Veckatimest.
Montgomery Gentry just missed the Top 10 with For Our Heroes, a benefit collection for the Wounded Warriors Project charity, selling 26,000 copies at No. 11.

Em's reign should come to an end next week as Dave Matthews Band leads a stacked pack of debuts that includes new albums by Rancid, 311, Taking Back Sunday and Van Halen castoffs Chickenfoot.
Sales overall were down 12 percent from last week and down 20 percent compared to the same week in 2008.

Here's a Top 10 recap:
1. Relapse, Eminem
2. 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day
3. Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack, various
4. The High End of Low, Marilyn Manson
5. The Fame, Lady Gaga
6. Greatest Hits II, Kenny Chesney
7. La Revolución, Wisin & Yandel
8. Veckatimest, Grizzly Bear
9. Fearless, Taylor Swift
10. Unstoppable, Rascal Flatts
