I like it but it's not one of my favorite Sister Sledge songs. But it didn't deserve to be down at the bottom of the page especially since a ton of dull threads were above it. You know we got to keep it live up in here and I see you got some more responses since then. lol

One of the most impressive disco songs music I remember hearing this song for the first time at the end of 1978.I had no idea who Sister Sledge was,but I instantly recognized the Chic sound. It's a dreamy, intoxicating groove. The 'We Are Family' album is excellent.

Great track...Originally intended to be released by Chic themselves.

That's correct nod They were recording their own album 'C'est Chic' at the same time they were producing the Sister Sledge album. The song "Le Freak" hadn't been recorded yet,so Chic were gonna place "He's The Greatest Dancer" on their own album. It most likely would have been the lead-off single for their album.Meanwhile, the song "I Want Your Love" was intended for Sister Sledge.A few weeks later,Chic came up with "Le Freak" and switched things around. They reclaimed "I Want Your Love",and gave the Sledge girls "He's The Greatest Dancer".

If you listen closely to "I Want Your Love",you can hear Sister Sledge on backup vocals.Niles and Bernard didn't remove their vocals from it.
