Double Dutch Bus---what are they saying? I was listening to the 1981 hit "Double Dutch Bus" by Frankie Smith yesterday. It was HUGE in the summer of '81,but I've never understood exactly what the kids are saying in the song.At the time, people were telling me it was "pig Latin",but how does that work? Can somebody translate this song for me?

It IS a form of pig latin. When the song came out in 1981, my Dad happened to hear it. He recognized the slang immediately.
He was a white guy born in 1937 in Nebraska and raised in Houston, and this was a form of pig latin popular in the '50's. Rappers have been using it for the last ten years or so. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly how to translate it, so I can't help you there, but I'm sure some of the people here who follow rap can decode it for you.
