"I was the third brother of five
Doing what I had to do to survive I'm not saying what I did was all right Growing up in the ghetto was a day-to-day fight..." Bobby was telling on himself in the first verse.

Here's my lyric right here though T84: "You don't know what you'll do untill you're put under pressure Across 110th St is a helluva tester" Man, Mr. Womack is one of my all time fave artists and THIS is one of my ALL time favorite songs. I wrote a Z Cult thread on this song on here quite some time ago. Bobby was a pretty good friend with my father and I treasure the fact that as a little kid, I was able to have met Mr. Womack on a few occassions. Classy man and one of the best songwriters ever. Yeah, I was gonna finish it but I had forgotten the other verse verbatim before that last line. Cool that you met him.

Great song! One of Bobby's best.I have the movie on DVD but I don't think it's very good, compared to other "blaxploitation" movies from that period.

It’s a fantastic record. Like so much of the great cinema of that period, it’s extraordinarily adept at revealing the gritty soul of its environment.
Through this music I walk those streets, even though I live a half a country apart.

Great song. I asked my mom last week why does Bobby talk in the beginning of all his songs.. My mom used to play his records all the time..I love his music.
I think the movie is cool. A very hard hitting, 70's R-rated version of "Law And Order". Very messed up what happened to Antonio (Huggy Bear) Fargas in the movie (lol). Al Green was offered to do the theme song but he turned it down.

"Sheba" is classic too. I love and collect all of those old school 70's flicks. Collection is almost complete.
The actor Micheal Jai White (Spawn, Tyson) has a blaxpoitaion parody flick called "Black Dynamite" coming out this fall. I think it's going to be hysterical. There's preview clips on the tube.

Love this song and how QT used it in Jackie Brown. I love how he pays tribute to old soul/funk music in all his movies.

I almost shit my pants when Tarantino used this to open Jackie Brown.
I remember my parents went to see this flick way back when and all my mom could talk about was thm throwin dude off a roof. I picked it up on dvd a few years ago. But the song is the epitome of soulful.Love it. The part where he says 'come on' to sing the last chorus sends chills.

I never knew that this song was the score to a movie. The first time I heard it was when I watched 'Jackie Brown', I instantly fell in love with the song, and bought the soundtrack. But this is the song that opened the door to the rest of Bobby Womack's music for me.
But... I'll be the one to take the bait, I know Bobby married Sam Cooke's widow, but what did he 'do' to Jackie (Wilson, I assume)??? Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

I first heard it in Jackie Brown too, sadly. I wish my parents had a deeper music knowledge/appreciation when I was coming up so I wouldn't have to seek so much on my own Anyway, dig the song

Hell yeah Black Dynamite is going to be killin'! I saw a trailer of it already in the theatres. Yeah, I have all of the blax films as well. And not just the action films but films like "Abbey" to "Black Shampoo". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
