Dave Gahan - Depeche Mode - cancer operation.

Depeche Mode have been forced to cancel their show at the O2 tomorrow (Saturday) after singer Dave Gahan underwent an surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his bladder.

The band have now cancelled nine dates of their Tour of the Universe shows since Gahan was taken ill.

The 47-year-old singer was initially diagnosed with gastroenteritis before further medical tests revealed a "low grade malignant tumour"

Following the operation, Gahan has been told by doctors to rest until June 8 when the band are due to play Leipzig in Germany.

No, because Dave and the band have sincerely apologized for all the inconvenience it has caused thier fans on their website, even though it is a life threatening illness that is the reason!! And they have kept their fans well informed as to the reason for cancellation and keeping them posted as to rescheduling of dates and letting them know that their tickets for the original shows will b honoured!!!

When has Prince ever apologized to his fans for any cancellation of gigs and when has he ever even given a valid reason for cancelling out?????

Prince does not have a history of canceling shows. A few doing Sign of the Times, when he fell down and busted his ankle doing the hit and run tours and this Croake Park thing which may be the fault of the promotors who sold tickets with no signed contract.

I am so tired of people coming on this board and making up history. Even the fact that you are pleased that Depeche Mode kept their fans informed about a personal health issue is wack.

If one needs to have surgery or just plain cannot work out the logistics fans are not always going to be notified. You buy a ticket the show gets canceled you get a refund. Pretty simple to understand that something could happen to cancel the show.
