More heat from The Master...
...Cold Sweat from 1968 Mother Popcorn... ...As you see, nobody in the band is smiling. Serious business happenin' here. Or is it the "fear of the fine"? tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

That was nice. Waaaaait a minute. How did I miss this? That can't be. Nice? FUNKEE??? That coming from the mighty funkgenius Graycap, the same person who claimed that: 1. James Brown lost it after Bootsy left the band? 2. I couldn't school him on James Brown? Okay, man. You already screwed up on #1. This footage, without a doubt some of the funkiest James Brown footage ever, is hardly from a time when James Brown had "lost it". Now let's look at #2. The big question is: If this is not the very first line-up of the J.B.s with Bootsy (bass) and Phelps Collins (git) - who is in this band? School me! Before I have to school you, which you said isn't possible! P.S. A hint for you: This footage was recorded July 13th, 1971, in Philadelphia and it was hosted by Philly Radio Personality Jimmy Bishop. It was not taped in October of 1971, as someone on the YouTube comments.

...Cold Sweat from 1968 This was recorded live at the Olympia in Paris, 1968. I got the entire footage from Paris '66, '67 and '68. In spite of the bad picture and sound quality, I think that this is some of the very best James Brown footage out there. It is mind blowing, absolutely amazing, and an incredible line-up of the James Brown Orchestra. Mother Popcorn... ...As you see, nobody in the band is smiling. Serious business happenin' here. Or is it the "fear of the fine"? Both. This one's a 1969 clip. My favorite line-up of the James Brown Band. Pretty much the same line-up as on the Popcorn album. It's kind of hard to say when he changed the name, but it was certainly in '68. Then he called the group The James Brown Band, until 1970, when most members left the group and Brown formed The J.B's around Bootsy and his brother Phelps Collins. There were various formations of the J.B.'s, until about 1985, when Brown re-named the group to The Soul Generals, his longest lasting group. The footage above is from 1969. Pretty simple. I'm aware of that and more power to you. But I have to admit, your recent claim that JB "lost it" after Bootsy left the band, is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard in my life, and especially considering that you wrote earlier on this thread that you're really feeling this clip. I think JB had you fooled! I think that absolutely no music lover with a sane mind would say that JB "lost it", especially when watching this particular clip. Finally, when we last discussed James Brown, you told me that I would never be able to school you on James Brown. That's an incredibly arrogant statement to make! But no worries, since I'm incredibly arrogant myself, I'll set the record straight, right here and now. This footage shows a very interesting line-up of the J.B.'s, and it's personally my favorite. We got: James Brown (vocal) Bobby Byrd (co-vocal) Russel Crimes & Ike Oakley (trumpets) Fred Wesley (tb) St. Clair Pickney (ts) Jimmy Parker (as) Hearlon "Cheese" Martin & Robert Coleman (guitars) Fred Thomas (bass) John Jabo Starks (drums) Plus, the fellow right there who picks up JB's jacket is John Morgan, the second drummer. Jimmy Nolen was not in this clip because it was filmed right before he returned to the group. Schooled!
