Well, aside from the fact that that's just one person and not necessarily representative of the audience as a whole, do you think Lady GaGa should deliberately gear her music and videos towards 8 year olds? Or should she go ahead and try and make the points she wants to make, whoever is listening? This is not an exit

There are no 8-year-olds at GaGa's shows. It's pretty clear who her fanbase is.
Not quite sure how "the kids might listen" is a reasonable argument for criticism of GaGa when we're on a Prince fan site (or ever, for that matter). [Edited 6/5/09 6:36am]

I'm still loving Poker Face...
speaking of which, Casey Stratton does a really cool cover of it and it's available for free download on his website: http://www.caseystratton....audio.html * * *

I guess she's got an alright voice considering what's being marketed these days. I just don't see what the bru-haha over this woman is. And this video... I guess I just don't get the appeal of the snuff film shots. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Man, I hear ya, but then they'd be labeled a "wholesome", "disney-esque" "goody goody" pop star and not taken seriously...at least until their breakdown...arrest...public nudity...SOME type of adversity where they can disappear for a hot minute then reinvent themselves and come back to public acclaim. I happened to catch a small bit of the Pussycat Dolls "live" show on Palladia a couple of days ago. The hetero perv in me wanted to watch/drool/leer over these half-naked chicks writhing around on stage in front of all the pre-pubes in the audience, while the rational part of myself was wondering exactly what was "empowering" about wearing next-to-nothing in front of thousands of people and shaking your tits and ass. Needless to say, the hetero perv locked the ration part in a closet and enjoyed what the small bit he saw... • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

There's nothing empowering about them (or hardly any other pop stars, except maybe Pink and sometimes Beyonce), the "empowering" response is just designed to shut critics up and blind young girls into believing they're looking up to the right kind of woman

Complete rubbish. I waited 3 minutes for the actual song to start and then...Nothing. Unoriginal, uninspiring and I've seen/heard it all before. Her voice is paper thin and the theatrics remind me of a swap meet version of Madonna. Even the choreography was lame. My ears and eyes hurt now. Thanks Lady Garbage.

WTF would somebody be letting their kid look up to her for anyways? Did they not listen to Pokerface and get the imagery getting her boyfriend hard but wanting to fuck outside of the relationship? In all sincerity, I don't know any parents, American or otherwise whose children or even pre-teens are listening to GaGa, but then that would be because they are conscious of what type of material their kids are exposed to and take as much conscious action as possible to filter what they deem appropriate material for their kids' ears. On the converse side, even if certain songs slipped towards the kids, why wouldn't a parent explain how and why certain themes and imagery from the artist in question was not appropriate for their consumption, and thus hardly appropriate to put on a pedestal.....? ...no accounting for parenting skills, I guess

It was written by Lady GaGa. I do, you can hear Gaga in the background, I'd almost call it a duet: Lady penned the song "Quicksand" for Spears -- and confessed that her fave Brit song is the super sexy "Slave 4 U." Gaga says, "I've gotta say 'Slave 4 U' was a moment for everyone. When that b**** came out with that slammin' body and that sweaty video we were all like, 'We can't hate on you.' She ended every pop diva queen's life. It's a good video."
