Maze ft. Frankie Beverly - Southern Girl

For all my hip-hop fans, the keyboard intro (least the last minutes of it) was sampled by XScape for the song "Can't Hang". cool

Southern Fried soul.
I wonder why radio stations don't play I Got You.
That was one of their funkier jams outside of Runnin Away.

Just yesterday,I went to the record store and bought two of their CDs:

Live In New Orleans (1981)---I have it on vinyl already but I want the CD for a road trip I'm going on next month.I always play their music ALOT in the summer months."Running Away" is a summer anthem for me,lol.

We Are One (1983)---This was remastered in 2004 and I didn't even know about it! Better late than never, lol. One of their strongest albums.

They reissued all of their cds in 04 (AGAIN) as remasters. I didn't get any of them because I refuse to buy another Maze cd without any new material coming out.

"Running Away" is my favorite song from them. I love the live version of "The Look In Your Eyes" from that album. I don't have the whole album though. I borrowed the vinyl from a friend of mine and recorded it onto CD. The motherfucker only had one of the records though, he had lent the other record from that double-album set to someone else and they never gave it back. lol

I bet I know where you are headed to on your road trip. biggrin

Here's a question....Maybe it's just Columbia, SC but I wonder why every DJ in this city only play "Before I Let Go" as if Maze didn't have any other dancable songs? lol

Man, you don't know what you're missing. Get the vinyl because the cd is missing "You".

Yeah, for some reason, the CD is an "abridged version" of the album. It's missing two songs: "You" and "Happy Feelin's".If they need more space, they should make a deluxe 2-CD edition.Add the two missing tracks plus any bonus tracks that are available.

"Before I Let Go" is my second favorite song by Maze music I remember in the summer of '81,"Running Away" and "Before I Let Go" were HUGE jams on the R&B stations. These songs remind of summertime.
