Electrik Red - Glamour Girl (Samples Make-Up by Vanity 6)

Produced by Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins.

Another Princely-sounding track from the quartet:

Friend Lover - Produced by The-Dream.

Thoughts?

Same here!

Sounds like Darkchild actually kept the original drums from Make-Up, giving the song that extra 'ummph!' lol

nod

They even quoted some of the lines from the original @ the end of the song.

In this generation, I would say Vanity 6 is the most influential group,,,which means a non-direct influence to Prince.

I've been trying to tell a big-headed friend that for the longest, but they're too much of an Apollonia stan to admit it. lol

Well judging from the album..the track is going to remain unreleased. I guess they could not get a sample clearance...and much of the album doesnt have too much of a Prince influence afterall. Unfortunatley that was their high point of me liking them.
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Glamour Girl comes from sessions done with Rodney Jerkins in 2006 for what would have been their debut album, before everything was scrapped and they got sent over to the Island Def Jam/Radio Killa imprint.

While the album -- How To Be A Lady: Volume 1 -- does fall short of the presumed Prince vibe, it's still a well-rounded and crated debut, imo.

The guy you guys are referring to is Jonte:

Yeah the album itself isnt bad..I just assumed there would be more uptempo pop dance sounding tunes too. I have seen the Jonte video but there is another choreography vid of these teen dudes dancing to Glamour Girl

I just gave the album a listen. shrug The only tune that piqued my attention was So Good. The rest was kinda dull...and there's a song called Go Shawty. confused I did like that there's a song call 9 to 5 and it sounds kinda like Dolly's 9 to 5 for a bit at the beginning. lol
