Yeah I've had it for a while. It's pretty good if you like Manson. But it's somewhat like Golden Age Of Grotesque with a bit more edge a la Antichrist Superstar. Get the 2 disc version with the remixes on disc 2 - they're pretty good.

MAY 26TH !! I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!

I didn't know the guy had a new CD out - but I just went to Myspace to listen to the snippets and all I can say that it sounds totally pointless. It seems to be mostly mid-tempo dross with some 90s style electronica on it. This is the guy who did "The Beautiful People"? He screams a bit on the new video / single - but on the other tracks it's just that typical boring as hell goth growl. He sounds quite good when he screams, but I guess we're old just getting older.

It doesn't seem to be as poppy as a couple of his previous album, but it still probably doesn't come off as proper alternative music nevertheless. Easy to tell from these snippets alone.

Listened to it on youtube (thank you kids for your uploads), and it isn't as bad as I would have thought from the myspace samples alone. Very patchy though, and in overall too slow indeed. There seems to be some screaming in the choruses, and some of the better tracks mix the Portrait of American Family / Smells Like Children -type of thing with his later glam dragging nu-grunge-metal-mid-tempo -material (whatever). With the emphasis on the latter, unfortunately. There is a little bit of experimentation present here and there, but I don't think it extends beyond mere sonic gimmickry for the most part.

In the overall, the guitars are far much more rock than metal or punk. The production is too polished for something that attempts to be "hardcore", but that seems to go with the times. There are a few "power ballads", which probably could be to someone's liking (they do however contain a few original twists on them - just far too few in my opinion). Some horrible lyrics from Manson too, as usual.

It's quite good, but i more like the "new" direction and sound on the "Eat me, Drink Me" album. Heart-Shaped Glasses is the best MM-song ever IMO
