Steely Dan - Rent Party '09 Tour - SPECIAL UPDATE!

Steely Dan Announces Their U.S RENT PARTY ‘09 Tour
To Include Multi-Night Stands of Special Setlist Shows
In New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Chicago

Special Engagements Include Complete Performances
Of The Albums Aja, The Royal Scam & Gaucho
Plus Fan Internet-Request Nights

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 27, 2009) – Iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Steely Dan have announced that their 30+ date U.S. “Rent Party ‘09 Tour” will include special setlist engagements in four metropolitan markets, giving their audience an unprecedented opportunity to hear both classic albums in their entirety as well as deep cut fan-selected favorites.

In addition to single-night concerts across the country, the group’s masterminds Walter Becker and Donald Fagen have also scheduled multi-night stands of special setlist shows in New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago. For Classic Album (Plus) Nights, one of three landmark albums — Aja, Gaucho, or The Royal Scam — is performed in its entirety, along with selected additional favorites. For Takin' It to the Seats Internet Request Night, the setlist is determined by internet votes from ticket-holders for that show.

The special setlist shows will be played during four nights at L.A.’s Gibson Amphitheater, four nights at the Chicago Theatre, four nights at New York’s Beacon Theatre, and three nights at Boston’s Wang Theatre [*]. See steelydan.com for specific setlist-by-date information.

Steely Dan has teamed with I Love All Access to offer VIP packages for the band’s most dedicated fans.

Steely Dan helped define the soundtrack of the '70s with hits including “F.M.,” “Bodhisattva,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Rikki Don't Lose That Number,” “Deacon Blues,” “Peg,” “Babylon Sisters,” and “Hey Nineteen,” culled from their seven platinum albums issued between 1972 and 1980. They reunited in the early '90s and have toured throughout the decade and beyond, releasing multi-Grammy winner Two Against Nature in 2000 and its acclaimed follow-up Everything Must Go in 2003. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Only been listening to Steely Dan for about a year now. One listen to Aja and I bought all their albums on itunes in one night. Every month or so I discover a new track and just bug out...Lately it's been Jack of Speed, last week Peg, next week maybe Things I Miss the Most. What did Prince use to say at his shows "real music by real musicians" Hope they come to Houston.

They've had female bg vocalists everytime i've seen them.
They're mandatory based on the recordings.

Fagen's voice may not work in other settings but it's perfect for the persona he and Becker have chosen to write through.

Just like Jimi's voice, it works for his material.

No doubt, but I have bootlegs sans the backup babes. I suspect it was a budgetary issue.

Very jealous of the full album performances!!!
Although I think they did the entire Aja when I saw them here in NZ in 2007... can't exactly remember I was too enchanted with the whole show eek

And vote for an album!!!
Sooo hard to pick one more album... (other than Aja, Royal Scam and Gaucho which are already on the schedule).
I'd probably have to gun for "Katy Lied" for the fact that it has my favourite song "Your Gold Teeth II" on it touched

PS I have no doubt that they'll have the femme backup singers on board. They were there when I saw em and this tour sounds epic! Don't hesitate! Count your lucky stars you're in the right part of the world for this!
Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

You must be talking 70s era.
When they started touring "seriously" in the 90s, they always had female bg vocalists.

Naw these are recent. You talkin' about the pre-AJA Hollywood boots. These have got songs from Aja Gaucho and Fagen and Baker's solo sessions. After the NY Soul Revue they toyed with reunion AND came out on a low budget. Early legs of tour got no female b/g, just boys in the band.
