Jacksonville Jazz Festival 2009

A few photos I took during my time at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival last weekend.

Jacksonville Jazz Festival Hall of Fame Jazz Band rehearsal (Snyder Memorial Church)...

...My best friend (musical mate & business partner), Longineu Parsons with pianist Marcus Roberts.

Musical Director...

...Von Barlow (aka The Cannibal)

Keyboard legend...

...Doug Carn

Jacksonville Jazz Hall of Fame Inductees: http://www.coj.net/Depart...+Fame+.htm

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

...Joe Cleveland (agent), Longineu, Doug Carn & Rodney Jordan (bassist)

...Longineu, Alfred Waters (played sax with Ray Charles for many years) & JC

...Hall of Fame inductees Teddy Washington (trumpet) & Von Barlow

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Longineu & Jimmy Cobb...

Jimmy Cobb (drums) is the last surviving member of the band that played with Miles Davis on Kind of Blue.
His So What Band features the music of that influential recording.

Larry Willis & Longineu

Larry willis was the pianist with the So What Band.
A great Jazz player with serious credits (Jackie McLean, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, Cannonball Adderley, etc), many are only aware of his 7 year tenure with Blood, Sweat & Tears during the 70s.

Some of the other performers included...

Joe Sample w/Patti Austin
Roberta Flack
Dr. John
Stanley Clarke Trio
(Lenny White & Hiromi)
Bill Frisell Quartet
Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Thanks.
Very invigorating to be around these seasoned & historic musicians.
Unfortunately, they're a dying (literally) breed.

Got a few more pics i'll post when i've got a bit more time.

There were a bunch of folks I didn't get a chance to see.
Between working in Tallahassee and playing in Jacksonville, I had negative "hang-time". confused
