So What's Your album of the year then?! Ok what is everyones album of the year?! No lists of every album you've listened to this year, just pick one album that has stood out from everything else you have listened to. For me it has got to be
Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf Why?! because it reminded me how great rock music can be. No whiny assed so called punk kids and no post-grunge Kurt Cobain soundalikes. This album completely fucking rocked my world. I'm now off to play it again and annoy everyone.

Musiq Soulschild - "Juslisen"
He has so many tracks with so many vocal layers without overkill and his tracks have moved me in a way that :I: can only compare with Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" Album. It's not so radical a comparison as it sounds! believe me! This could change when :I: hear Lewis Taylor's "Stoned Pt. 1" tho' but until then, :I:'m sticking with Musiq!!! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

sigur ros - () tori amos - scarlet's walk both are perfect albums. and both are fierce in their creativity. I LOVED Sigur Ros' first album. It is absolutely breathtaking. The 2nd is taking me a moment to slip into but you are right about the creativity. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Far and away it's gotta be Bowie's Heathen for me.
Every song is perfect and I rate it among his best work. Plus, I got to see the entire thing performed live at Roseland Ballroom. What a show!

even though me'shell's "cookie" is essentially a july 2001 album, since it was released in nearly a year late in june 2002, i must say it's "cookie."
second choice would be talib kweli's "quality." nobody's records have even come close to either of them this year in both substance & musicianship.

It would be Trent Reznor and guests' "Tapeworm", but that one is still not released so it's definitely, without a doubt, Bowie's "Heathen"... Close second and third: Meshell Ndegeocello's "Cookie:The Anthroplogical Mixtape" Queens Of The Stone Age's "Songs For The Deaf" Still haven't heard Beck's new one yet... I guess that one would rank high up there... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

So far for me the best complete album of the year for me is the Eminem Show. I was not even a fan, in fact I couldn't stand the guy but I liked the "Without Me" single so I gave the album a try. I'm sure glad I did, he's a lyrical genius.

3) Oasis - Heathen Chemistry
2) Bruce Springsteen - The Rising 1) Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot ***With special mention to The Rainbow Children...I know, I know, I know, it really came out in '01 (so did Yankee on the internet but let not get technical) but I really got into it in '02 so I consider it one of the best of this year. I hate to say it, and I might be totally ripped on for this, but I have to give it to Christina Aguilera for "Stripped." There are albums this year that have performed consistently in a single style, but Stripped was full of both quality and variety. I was really pleasantly surprised.
Honorable mentions: Musiq "Juslisten" Remy Shand "The Way I Feel" James Taylor "October Road" Prince "One Nite Alone" ...and all the great remastered classic albums that came out this year.

India.Arie - Voyage to India...a sleeper Sophomore hit.
Remy Shand - The Way I Feel...a few of my coworkers and I were jamming to his music at work. A surprise addition to the "neo-soul" genre. John Mayer - Room for Squares...I couldn't stand the first single which was overplayed, but when "Your Body is a Wonderland" came out, that caught my attention, and the rest of the music is great. Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head...Ok I don't actually have a copy of it, but I played the music alot on musicmatch.com, and it's quite good. Raphael Saddiq - Instant Vintage...Now he personified soul this year. If you can see him live, don't miss out. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."
