John Frusciante - Before the Beginning Doesn't this song remind you of a classic?

This is from his album The Empyrean. It's really good. On his blog he says the album should be played loud and in a darkened living room at night. I totally agree with his assessment. The closer song is After the Ending which is equally as good.

Huge Frusciante fan here.
He is def channelling his own maggot brain on this, but I find the restraint on this song and on the album very interesting. On the last Peppers album Stadium, he played a ton of solos, on this album very little guitar, and on this song a perfect chordal backdrop to rip, he doesn't. Not sure what statement he is making. He is one tough cookie to figure out. I like this album and the studio treatments but I do wish he played more guitar, on some of the tracks you hear him sing "yeah yeah"..... and you expect a squealing solo. I appreciate his journeys and am humbled to be allowed to view. Music is the best...
