Love that joint but I prefer this groove:

"So goooood, so goooood..." music

Whenever you hear this on the radio you just start
bobbing that head. I'm not a huge disco fan but
this is one of the best.
Don't laugh at my funk

It's disco music at its funkiest is what it is. Phyllis sung through the heart in a dance song.

Legend has it Phyllis and James Mtume clashed in the studio because James wanted her to go up an octave on the song so when she did, she gave him this angry torch feel to it. I think she cursed him out afterwards. falloff

It's OK but it's a little too tame for the disco era.

nod

I don't think I've ever danced this song to it's conclusion. Hell, at some point I had to walk off the dance floor. timeout

It is a James Mtume and Reggie Lucas cut. They really didn't do much disco. They tried to be r&b.

Oh yeah,I heard about the drama that went on during the making of this album. In addition to what you mentioned, there was some more drama when Phyllis went to a jazz magazine and basically dissed the album...the week it was released! James and Reggie were PISSED and vowed never to work with Phyllis ever again. The album did reasonably well and Clive offered them alot of money to produce a follow-up and they refused.Instead, they gave a bunch of great songs to Stephanie Mills for her 'Sweet Sensation' album, including the hugely successful "Never Knew Love Like This Before".
