Out of those, i dig Beyonce's for the quality of her vocals and her background singers, the band, the dramatic stage-lightning with smoke at the beginning, and the performance as a whole.
And those falling curtains with the band popping-up behind it ... always works for me. Big impact. She might not be fave on the org because of overexposure, lol, but onstage she delivers top-entertainment imo.

Madonna's opening is tight, but i'm not too keen on her vocal ability during the verses, while she sounds more in tone during the choruses, but then again she's backed up by bandsingers during those parts.

Lady Ga Ga's opening is cool but i couldn't hear her voice clearly, because of the cellphone quality.

Both Britney's and Pink's opening look solid but , uhm ... who borrowed who's concept-idea ? lol

I'll check Madonna's Girlie-Show later.

What the fuck is wrong with people today? In the Lady Gaga video every third person seems to be holding their goddamn cameraphone in the air and it looks completely ridiculous - isn't getting to download a couple of clips from youtube enough? Do they all need their own personalized 40 second clips?

It's sort of the same thing with more marginal music. If you go to a more silent gig in a small space - may it be folk, jazz or some sort of improvised music or minimal electronica - there's usually a whole bunch of assholes walking up to the performers and taking a picture of them. With their cameras set to playback that "snapshot" sound, which usually is loud enough to permeate the entire space if it echoes there. A lot of people who have intended to record their gigs for a live release haven't been even able use the recordings due to the excessive amount of that goddamn sound which is easily picked up by condenser microphones. Obviously it's just too damn hard to turn to sound effect on.

The best entrance? The best entrance is to walk to your instruments and look like you sort of know what you're doing. Works each time. wink .

* Blocking the unobstructed vision for shorter audience members, for example.

* Having to go through dozens of crappy live recordings one after another on youtube, until finding one where the user has actually managed to adjust the recording volume so that you could actually hear something of the audio. Of course, nobody forces anyone to go through those uploads. However, any such recording will usually present the artists to a wider audience in a manner that is very unflattering to the artist.

* People being dependent on their (crappy) technological gadgets so much that they can't get through a single moment of their lives without "capturing it for posteriority". One has to only look at that sight only to realize how conditioned people have become to having to find use for any such device that they've bought - especially as you can't really imagine anyone really going through those files more than a couple of times. You're not supposed to be there making a substandard media recording for yourself, you're supposed to be there enjoying the live performance.

* It simply looks stupid, but I guess that won't be much of an argument to many.

Unless you know what you are doing and take the artists and other people in the audience into account too, please leave your gadgets at home (or keep them to your pockets). Thank you.

My daily preach. lol

You people are rude. If you don't want to even answer my question than don't bother writing down anything. It's pointless.

I watched the Beyonce one and it did not seem too appealing to me. Maybe it is because I am for the dramatic type of entrance. Britneys scene was too busy and I did not know what was going on there until they lowered her down, and even then she looked like she was waiting just as patiently for the grand entrance to end so that she could begin. LOL Pinks entrance was clumsy. It would have been better if she was one of the dancers there and we could not tell it was her until she chose to reveal herself, that would have been unexpected. Lady Gagas entrance would have been better if a few seconds after the countdown she showed up, I was waiting for it to get to the point. But Madonna did not have enough build up. LOL maybe I am not good at this. Out of all the videos though, Beyonces was probably the best as far as the timing and and entrance. There was enough pause to get the crowd excited and scream.

You get used to it on here eventually.

As for me, I'm gonna say Britney just because the intro does a very good job at creating atmosphere.

WELCOME...to the circus!

I like it even if the rest of the tour is a little sub par.
