Who the hell is this Drake guy? Well can somebody feel me in? The first time I have ever seen, or heard of him was when he was on that awful performance with Lil Wayne on the BET Awards. The worst performance of the show. So who is he and where did he come from? I sure hope he isn't the next big rap star. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He is poised to be the next rap star. I think Lil Wayne discovered him. I just knew him from acting on Canada's high school TV series, Degrassi.

All I knew him was from Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi. I really couldn't believe it was him when I saw on him on BET awards; obviously most folks out there have not watched Degrassi so to them he's just the guy with the number 1 RB,Hip Hop song in the nation this week. It's funnny. I watched Degrassi from the beginning and "Jimmy" has rapped on there, but NEVER did I think he'd be with Lil' Wayne, all gangster and blowing up. There is a precedent (or 2) with Canadian kid actors becoming big pop starts; think Alanis Morrisette.

How so? I'm not saying he's great, or even good: I've only heard the one song But, a lot of folks started on TV: Tupac was on "Different World" I think; Janet Jackson was on "Good Times" "Diff'rent Strokes" Alanis Morrisette was on some kids show, Nick Cannon --- um, scratch that one. But, a lot of folks get started any way they can. I don't know if it makes them any more real, or not real, than anyone else.

word on the street is dude can spit. he's done a couple mix tapes that were said to be pretty dope and sparked his buzz to the point where kanye and wayne took note. so wayne didn't "discover" him per se. i haven't heard him and don't plan to, but when someone like me isn't CHECKIN' for a cat like Drake but somehow still manage to hear about him, his buzz is significant.
