But James wanted to play both sides of the fence. People couldn't understand how James would be performing at a breakfast for the Black Panther Party then turn around and shake hands with Nixon. People both black and white didn't really know what to make of James. People thought by 1972 that James had gotten "too political". By 1976, he had no choice but to return to perform just party music. [Edited 5/26/09 18:59pm] | |
