'Passion Play' is the only Teena Marie album that I've never heard! It was released independently and got very little attention/airplay.Is it worth hunting down?

"365" music music 'It Must Be Magic' is one of her BEST albums!

I think it is...it's not "Irons in the Fire" , or "It Must be Magic", but I do like a lot of the tracks...
but you're right, it got very little distribution, and went out of print surprisingly fast....

365.

This song is one of my all time favorites. I cant even describe how much I love it. I love the lyrical arrangement. I love Melvin's deep voice "Is yo love aliiive?" The tune stands out as a funky jazzy fun fruitful tune with sass and a great chorus. The instruments sound soft and the live pianos add a classic 'live at the house of blues' feel to it. I imagine Teena singing on top of a piano and dancing in a little room witha red dress on.
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

That's a bad sign when you have have a lot of guest appearances on your album. It usually means the material is sub-par.

Yeah,I recall an interview where Teena mentioned that she was very disappointed/frustrated with the entire experience (releasing an album independently). The CD wasn't distributed properly.I'm gona go find me a copy.I always wanted to hear this album.

I'm wondering if this is record company pressure--they always seem to push the guest artist thing, especially when older, established acts try to put out something new....

Well, this is where I wish these artist would stand up for themselves and say, NO!. Tina has been in the business long enough to say something. Sorry to bring him up, but I don't think they would say, this to Prince.

lol I'm just hoping that the actual songs are great, then I could give her a pass for all these collaborations (lol)but I'm not impressed with the first single.I hope there is some amazing UPTEMPO funk on this CD.For some reason,I predict that this CD will be a jazzy affair.

Maybe this will express what I been goin' through

...hope for V. Andy. Next? You Baby is for her daughter and I am sprung on it. Ear Candy is growing on me quick, despite the early 80's cheeky-ness.

Look out! The 'Niecy reference at .28 seconds into the Marry Me sample is brilliant.
