Great tune! I didn't know this one, so I looked him up on allmusic. Seems he died in 1981. Any idea how?

According to musicians who gigged with him, he suffered from epilepsy, and apparently died from a seizure while in his hotel room--he was supposed to perform at the Kool Jazz festival at the time...they give the date as 1982, but I'm not sure....

Ndeed!

But this was a R&B radio hit-- at least locally, in DC-- back in the day....when I hear that phasing guitar, and trickling synth at the beginning and end, it takes me right back to the summer of '78...

A friend of mine hipped me to David Oliver. It is a great song. I have the vinyl somewhere.
