Do you like Neo-Soul?

I've been digging alot of Neo-Soul artists lately. I just got my Wanya album today and it's awesom and I was jammin out to Algebra and Liv Warfield on Youtube earlier. Any other good neo-soul artists that I should be checking out?

BTW, what category is J*Davey in because I'm lovin the song, "Sloow" but she's not one of those artists that I would consider to be easy to stick in just one category.

Don't know if you're looking for only new stuff, cause I can't think of anything right now that's somewhat recent except for Algebra (2008).

I never bought that term "neo-soul", just like I never bought the term "gangsta rap". After New Jack Swing faded and you had 2 talk dirty and strip naked to get over, what was brought back was roots music by real musicians and sangers. And yet no matter where life took D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Rashaan Patterson, Chico DeBarge and Maxwell, every one of them in their respective way has kept it alive.

"New soul", what's so new about it? lol They all admit that all they're doing is trying to see how Marvin or Donny or Aretha or Smokey would sound in a contemporary R&B production setting. lol

Considering much of the dribble in the R&B market, it IS new again.

It ain't new, it's as similar as what "contemporary R&B" was in the mid-eighties. lol And really this "neo-soul" ain't nothing like the "soul" of the sixties and seventies no matter how much they try to make it seem that way. I like to see John Legend or Erykah or India make anything as challenging as Here, My Dear or Music of My Mind or any of the 1970s Isley Brothers albums... oh wait...

I just don't get that name. That's just another way of covering up that "soul music is dead". It's alive but it's under that blanket name. lol

I swear every single time this topic comes up I try to understand why folks get irate over the name. New soul, old soul, neo myasshole - I really don't care. I just know that some of the mf's who fall under the banner are artists I dig shrug

Alice Smith - she feels like she falls under this banner at times but is way more broad & crazy talented...

Martin Luther - his voice is buttery & NICE, I wanna let it slide up my thigh...

& the usual suspects: Me'Shell, Badu, Jill Scott, India (though she's not exciting me lately), Maxwell, where IS D'Angelo, Van Hunt!, Leela James, Chrisette Michelle, Anthony Hamilton, John Legend...

Somebody just told me to check out Sy Smith, I gotta do that soon...
