Hip Hop albums with rappers who are more lyrically above their counterparts deserve to be listened to on headphones...then bumped after you directly stored the information. Eminem like Nas, Common and Talib need more attention than just the regular ringtone pop rapper Lets add DOOM to that list. His last record lyrically is so AMAZING. I don't know if Eminem is talking about his mom in his new record (I don't think he is), but by Grays comment I can tell he hated the record before he even listened so therefore what was the point of the review? To reaffirm your dislike for someone? W Yeah he did talk about her on "My Mom" My Mom love valium, and lot's of drugs That's why I am, like I am, 'cause I'm like her! Because My Mom love valium, and lot's of drugs That's why I'm on, what I'm on, 'cause I'm My Mom! [Verse 1] My Mom, My Mom, I know you're probably tired of hearing 'bout My Mom, oohoh-Woohoh But this is just a story of when I was just a shorty and how I became hooked on va-al-ium Valium was in everything, food that I ate The water that I drank, fuckin' peas on my plate She sprinkled just enough of it, to season my steak So everyday I'd have at least 3 stomach aches Now tell me, what kinda mother would wanna see her Son grow up to be an under-a-fucking-chiever My teacher didn't think I was gonna be nothing either What the fuck you stickin' gum up under the fucking seat for? It's better than 'Encore' and 'The Eminem Show', but nowhere near 'The Marshall Mathers LP', 'The Slim Shady LP' or 'Infinite' Some good tracks. Some crap ones. Some inbetween ones. Pretty mediocre for the most parts but there are some standouts. What are the standouts? Hurry I need 2 go back 2 the trashbin and retreive the cd. I liked "Bagpipes From Baghdad", "Stay Wide Awake", "Old Time Sake", and "Deja Vu". Rest of the album was meh. |

paisleypark4 said: larksanders said: No what I find funny is that someone gave a review while not actually listening to the record. Didn't Gray say it was on the background while he was doing other things? How the fuck can you give a HIP HOP record a review without listening to the lyrics? I am no Eminem fan, but I can admit that he is very talented as an MC. But I guess you have love and appreciate HIP HOP to understand. Whats the point? most people here want to talk about Mariah, Michael, and Janet anyway. So lost.... Correct. Hip Hop albums with rappers who are more lyrically above their counterparts deserve to be listened to on headphones...then bumped after you directly stored the information. Eminem like Nas, Common and Talib need more attention than just the regular ringtone pop rapper Naw dude i wasn't getting bent out of shape. I'm just trippin off of Em fans who are fighting back with the standard old you haven't even listened to the lyrics and you are just hating him for the wrong reasons. In a nutshell, i've never really dug the dude from day one. For those close minded people that assume i don't like him because he's a white rapper that theory fails because i can name even more black rappers whom i don't care for. There's only like 2 records from the dude that that have actually kept my interest from beginning to end one of which is lose yourself. You just said on a recent thread that you've never been into lionel richie or the commodores and that's understandable based on what you've heard from them. So if you've never been a fan it's highly unlikely in 2009 you will become a lionel richie fan whether you've heard 3 songs or all of his new album. If you've never liked tribe called quest in the 90's it's highly unlikely you'll become a fan now. It's the same way with me listening to eminem. For the record, imho he is not on the same level with common, nas, talib kweli, black thought. Don't laugh at my funk

I don't criticize Lionel or the Commodores because I really to be honest don't KNOW enough to JUDGE them. Their singles just have not caught my attention. However I see many people on here who don't even own the album base ther entire judgement on the man from the media and not from the music. It's just like all the people who never buy Princes new albums but still say his new stuff is wack. There responses don't even matter. Sounds to me like he's at the same point Prince was at in the mid-'90s. Past his best, but still showing signs of the old magic here and there. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

What kind of criticism is that? I mean okay u don´t like Eminem, it´s cool to me but damn don´t begin a topic like that, have a better point to begin. Another Point did u ever tried to rap a song of him? Or even tried ur self to write a lyric and get the Flow on it with the beat? I can tell ya is quite difficult. What I have heard of his new cd I think it's way more better than the hip hop nowadays, Lyrically he is one of the best in the hip hop scene nowadays. Eminen Writes about things that a lot of people can relate on, it's not about cars, chicks and Bling Bling, look at that first off all than Critique his cd. And u have the funny/crazy stuff of Slim Shady, Personally I skip those songs cause I am more into lyrics that someone can relate on it, that he spit about something real in this society, but still he marks his teritory with those songs. Em spazzes out on Underground, my personal fav on the album and nice closer, hope Relapse 2 continues in this vain.
Album was a grower to me and enjoy pretty much every song with We Made You and Crack A Bottle being the worst. 3 AM is really good, Deja Vu, Beautiful, Stay Wide Awake are all dope. Still doesn't have a Stan or The Way I Am or Lose Yourself standout song but still a vast improvement over Encore which had 3 or 4 good tracks at best. Edit: Underground link (Criminal Part 2 basically, but if you don't enjoy this you don't enjoy Em) http://www.youtube.com/wa...sHh7yJBVcU [Edited 6/1/09 13:06pm] | |
