Stevie Nicks.....

I just bought one of Stevie Nicks greatest hits CD's and I was STUNNED at how much her voice aged from 1977-1982. On the CD is the original version of "Silver Springs" and the next track is "Stand Back." Her voice aged HORRIBLY during those yrs..she almost has no voice on "Stand Back." Was she hoarse? I know she was using drugs badly during that time but does drugs age your voice THAT MUCH? Even from "Silver Springs" to "Edge Of 17", her voice aged A LOT!....what gives..

Yes, drugs and hard living do indeed take a toll on your body and your voice. I don't know if she is a smoker, but that can really do a number on your vocal cords. I wonder if she has a vocal coach and still takes lessons? This can also help strengthen your voice.

I read somewhere that around the Rock A Little album that she was using a vocal coach but its really amazing to hear the change in her voice from the RUMORS album to her first solo album just 3 yrs later. I prefer her more mature sounding voice but her voice went through an amazing transition in such a short period of time

Frankly, Stevie had to grow on me...I just could not get into her right away. I like her now, though.

I love Stevie's voice, from her Fleetwood Mac days to her solo stuff.

Don't know much about her, but from what I've heard her songs are far too meandering. She did a handful of great songs with Fleetwood Mac though, and I love her voice.

I heard a Revolution rehearsal from 1983 where they made fun of "Stand Back" and Stevie Nicks' vocals. It was Lisa, Wendy and Bobby Z. and Dr.Fink who compared her to a sheep. "Stand Baaaaack, Stand Baaaaack, I need sympathy!" I never laughed so hard and they were all laughing themselves. Hilarious!
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

She's got the kind of voice that people either love or hate...it's very distinctive.I'm a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac but I've never gotten into her solo albums...yet.

Madartista and I saw her a couple summers ago - I (we) thought she sounded great considering her age and the trouble she's had with her vocal chords over the years.

Chris Isaac opened. It was a great show! biggrin
