"Life With My Sister Madonna"

I know the book has been out for a bit, but I wanted to know what Madonna fans thought about it.

^^I thought it was pretty good also. Is Madonna still mad at him because I remember hearing that she was pretty pissed off?

there were rumours she and Christopher were giving thanks.

I think the song is badly written. As if they just typed down what he told them, like a bad edited interview.

It also brings nothing new, save for soem nice anectdotes but they didn't shape my conception of who Madonna is not that much.

Just one thing: She's bitchier than I thought.

It did seem like an interview at parts and the fact that she never paid him the norm for all the jobs that he did is somewhat understandable to an extent because you can't really charge people the norm when you don't have a degree and/or certification in an area that usually requires it.

I agree 100% with the bolded part and have to say that's exactly how I felt after reading the book. I've always thought that she was bitchy, but this made her seem even worse. I do think that she was a total asshole to him on several occasions and the fact that she sat back and did nothing to defend him as her now ex-husband's (Guy Ritchie) friends used homophobic slurs at their pre-wedding dinner parties really floored me. Not just because it's insulting to her brother, but like he said, she has always had a big gay following. If she didn't want to stick up for him, that's one thing, but she should have at least stuck up for the large group of people who made her a star.

If anything, the book made her whole career seem calculated and not nearly as exciting as I had originally thought it to be. Well, I still think she is an extremely smart businesswomen and a pop icon nonetheless, so I will always have respect for her even though I stopped financially supporting her after 'Bedtime Stories'.

I learned that Madonna was not really into music... even in her earliest interviews it comes across as if having a hit song would be her way of becoming a famous movie star.
Now imagine how pissed she must be that ironically MUSIC is what made her most famous, haha.

It's been awhile since I sat in a bookstore and read the book, but I don't remember anything outstanding about it...Maybe I never thought she was a saint anyway...So what did she do that was so terribly vicious because nothing really stands out to me.

Maybe she didn't want to ruin her big event (pre-wedding dinner) by getting involved in a politically-motivated argument over the gay slurs. Her brother's a grown azz man. Why didn't he stand up for himself? If he wasn't willing to defend his OWN honor, why should he be mad at sis? They're not kids on a playground anymore.

I slightly remember leaving the book with the feeling that maybe he should've created a life for himself that was NOT built on the fact that he's Madonna's brother. Then he wouldn't have had so many grievances.

Although I'm sure it'd be a fascinating read, I have to remember that it's also from a slanted point of view. Christopher and Madonna have had a rough relationship in recent years and Chris just went for the money in the end. He has really tough drug issues, and the book is only feeding that. He appears together on TV, but he's still highly addicted to drugs. Madonna has offered to pay for his rehab over and over, and all but begged him to get clean. He's just never done it. When he started writing things in his book that were a flat out insult to her, I figured I'd not read it. Not because I'm defending Madge, but there's just a point of being decent, even if you're spilling the beans about someone. It's a bunch of He Said She Said. I feel bad for him.

Very good book, but Madonna comes off VERY COLD and BOSSY to CHRISTOPHER. He seems a bit MAD at her and he HATES GUY calls him A HOMOPHOBE and blames him for MADONNA not being so CLOSE to her GAY FANBASE and he calls INGRID basically MADONNA'S ASSKISSER. Claims he always had CHEAP ACCOMODATIONS when he worked for Madonna,Claims she got him into DRUGS. Claims she underpaid him for his INTERIOR DECORATING skills. Claims he was always ADORING of her and she Basically treated him like DIRT and also her FAMILY. Claims she is CHEAP to them. Also claims his STEPMOTHER JOAN treated the kids POORLY and fed them crap and saved the good stuff for her FRIENDS. Oh and lest I forget basically his whole FAMILY was INSINUATING and pushing him towards the GAY LIFESTYLE and MADONNA was ENCOURAGING HIM before he knew his DOMINATION. He seems to have Alot of HOSTILITY against everyone in this book. I LOVED IT! biggrin

There is no truth to that whatsoever in the the film, fashion, and music world. These are some of the few areas in the work force where this hardly applies at all. Your pay is based on prior experience, your resource connections, and your ability to save the goddamned farm under pressure, and if you're lucky, a good to somewhat favorable opinion of you by your peers who have power and influence. No one cares about your Tisch, F.I.T. or Rhode Island School of Design degree when you're trying to solve a production crisis within 3 hours time. You're paid to show up and deliver. If this were not the case then Madonna for all her success should never have become a music icon, because she did not graduate from Juliard or the Berklee School of music. Just sayin' wink
