New Kids hangin' tough with fans on 3-day cruise Posted 1d 6h ago | Comments 6 | Recommend 5 E-mail | Save | Print | Enlarge By Damian Grass, AP The New Kids on the Block, from left, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight and Jonathan Knight, pose on the cruise ship Carnival Imagination May 15 in Miami. Yahoo! Buzz Digg Newsvine Reddit FacebookWhat's this?MIAMI (AP) — Those little girls who once loved the New Kids On The Block are now adults — with disposable income. The band quickly sold out a three-day Caribbean cruise where they'll perform onboard and mingle. The group, which reunited after 14 years for a tour and new album in May 2008, will kick off its summer performance schedule with the concert cruise to the Bahamas. They leave Friday afternoon on the Carnival Imagination. Carnival spokeswoman Cherie Weinstein says about 2,100 people — mostly women in their 20s and 30s — bought tickets to the cruise. She says the trip sold out quickly compared to an average Carnival cruise. The New Kids On The Block Full Service summer tour begins June 4 in Atlanta. I don't really understand the point of their comeback. Guess they figured since all the competition but one group has gone away they could give it another go.
Anyways, I'm sure people who are going to be buying tickets for this cruise are doing so because the Kids will be there, so what's the big deal? It's not as if they'll be pressganging Skinny Puppy and Leonard Cohen fans into swabbing the decks. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

^They're a group. They want to do something. The fans have just about demanded it in the past few years. VH1 Bands Reunited didn't quite do the job for it, but I kind of thought something would happen AFTER that show. Sure enough. [Edited 5/17/09 14:31pm]

That is a pretty clever idea, although I am not a big fan of theirs. Although I did like a few of their songs.

I wonder if Jonathan brought his boyfriend... "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
