I MISS VH1........

I truly, truly, TRULY do.

I was raised on vh1. thats where i got alot of my musical knowledge from. I was 8- 9 years old having intense musical discussions with adults 4x older than me because of the rich musical history VH1 showed daily.

All my favorite shows like pop up video, behind the music (which is coming back), 8 track flashback, legends, etc.....what happened?

what the hell happened?!

whats up with all this reality tv show bullshit? its just alot of buffoonery.and it said becasue one show leads to two spin offs and then 4 spin offs and shit never ends!

what the fuck im SINCERE about this. I use to stay glued to vh1 while all the other kids was watching cartoons.

anybody else feel me on this?

i dont know what else to say but to see something that taught me so much about musical history just, fall off like it did is semi- depressing.

i take it so seriously cuz i was a latchkey kid and thats all i watched.

ahhhhh and all those MJ weekends! cool cool cool

They have alternative VH1 channels that concentrate on music now. The regular channel is strictly for their reality shows.

I love VH1 Soul.

and their programming isn't that varying...they show the same stuff all the time but i guess you cant win them all

VH1 Classic used to be pretty good. I haven't gotten it in a couple years now, but it looks to be alot of Doc/Music movies and metal-oriented music. Looks like Totally 80's is, i assume, their "We Are the 80's" block renamed.

DishNetwork is kind of "one sided" on their programming if you ask me. They don't carry TV-One or Vh1 soul and that really sux.

Agreed. I miss MUSIC television. The best thing about Palladia is that they play nothing but music, AND it's anything in HD.

Remember when you couldn't turn on MTV withOUT seeing a video? It was foreign to see Ricky talking to Ratt on Headbanger's Ball. but now it's foreign to see a video without Tiffany screaming to Heather and Amber and Britnnay and Megan over it.

I loved AJ Hammer on VH1. I loved Rosie O'Donnell on VH1. I loved Martha Quinn and Mark Goodman. I loved seeing the MTV News at 10 before the hour, EVERY hour. I love special events like the Sheridan Wyoming thing, because it was so different and raw and cool.

Now..well now even MTV2 only plays Viva La Bam reruns OVER AND OVER. And now Matt Pinfield, one of the best minds to talk about the music scene, is in rehab trying to get better.

Palladia? What's that? Is that on Time Warner or something different?

I agree about VH-1 though, that channel has fallen off.

Palladia used to be M|HD. It was/is a joint venture between MTV, VH1 and CMT. They play a LOT of concerts, Sound Stage, some Unplugged (not ALL of them, and not the good ones), Storytellers, Soul Stage, Sessions, MTV World Stage, MTV Live, as well as rock movies like Let's Spend The Night Together, etc. It's in the HD tier of your cable guide, if they carry it. Right now they're running Coachella from 2006 at times. They also play the MTV Europe Awards from the same year, and the MTV VMA's from the previous year (often times in an edited form). The concerts range from Jeff Beck, Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more. I've never found a real method to their programming. Although from 3 a.m. until 9 a.m. they play nothing but HD videos. There are some commercials but they are limited to 30 second or 60 second spots at a time.

A lot of HD is included if you have digital cable. It's not a pay channel. It's in HD just like A&E, CBS or Animal Planet.

Agh VH1 used to bed my fav. channel on tv. I would watch it all day. It was great they always had something on about music, it may have been videos or concerts or shows about music or movies about music. but it was always about music, but when MTV bought them out years ago it just turned to utter crap!! It's not my least fav. channel on tv. I haven't watched that channel in years.

VH1 used to be great back in the 1990s....

8 Track Flashback
The Big 80s
The Get Down Countdown
American Bandstand
Solid Gold
Cher
Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve
Don Kirshner's Rock Concert

They played one or two of Tina Turner's concerts. They also played one of Earth, Wind, and Fire's concerts. And every year on Prince's birthday, they used to play "Purple Rain" and have a marathon of either Prince videos or television specials.

VH1 ain't been shit for years though.

I always wanted VH1 Classic but it's on a higher priced cable package. Hell, I can barely afford basic cable and really should drop it since there's nothing on any of the channels anyway except for reality bullshit and "American Idiot".

I never had any desire for VH1 Soul though. I've heard it's mostly 90s shit and I hated the 90s....too damn slow and dull.

i miss the OLD VH1, it was so much fun, thats where i found out about so many music artist, now you have to have VH! classic, and that still isn't even as good as the OLD VH1. I LOOOVE reality shows, and even celebreality shows, like flava flav and i love New york. but thats all they show now. They need to get back to the music and have ONE day out the week where they show the Celebreality shows.

but whatever EVERY CHANNEL used to be so much better, even Nickelodeon, Disney, ABC, Fox the quality of TV has gone to an all time low.

You would love VH1 soul.

On Prince's birthday last year, they did a whole weekend of Prince videos (associated artists and his). As well as rare live concert footage. THey showed Kiss from the Nude tour as well as Joy In Repetition and a few others.

VH1 aint nuthin but reality TV and pop video.

this week: Myamme gets her check

next week: Daisy sends home the ugly dude

the week after: Ashley almost gets expelled from Charm School

Next month: More reality bullshit. And if you turn it to MTV. Same reality bullshit but with a younger cast. smile Spidey's show will air soon.

And let's not forget half of those shows are spin offs of others. Flavor Flav's had that troll New York, who had a few shows. Daisy is from Rock of Love w/ Bret Michaels. Then Charm School is related to something else somehow I think. Utter horse shit.

Mannnnn. I got all kindsa excited when I saw that channel added. The very first thing they were gonna show was a NIN show. bananadance

Then I discovered that the content is "protected" on my TiVoHD.

Man, I remember when Disney would show something other than Hanna Montana and all that other crap. They used to show things like Vault Disney, Mouseterpiece Theatre and they used to show 'em withOUT any commercials. Ahhh...those were the days...
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •
