GD just knows how to burn ballads up.
It'd be a complete tune even if it never got past the first section.

There's so much harmonic/melodic interest in his arrangments.

You mean, the Dream On(1982) album?

confused eh...it's OK. Just IMO, the best thing on it is the longer remake of "Someday", his classic tune from 1975. ....he also does a sort-of remake of "Reach For It"...not sure why...anyway, not a horrible album, but not his best, either...

Yeah, and I always dug his falsetto, and there are some things on there -- it's just that-- again,in my opinion -- the Earth Wind and Fire influence was taking over a little too much, to the point where it sounded like he was trying to duplicate them, instead of doing his own thing;

I dunno, compared to everything he had done before , this one kinda felt to me like he was was phoning it in, especially with not one, but two remakes of his own stuff on the album....

I see your point.

Also, the late 70's with his George Duke Band were magical.
