Worst Concert By A Band/ Artist You Like Ok we've all seen terrible sets by bands/ artists we don't like anyway, but what are the ones where you have been let down by someone whose records you really enjoy?
For me, Echo and the Bunnymen was a big disappointment. Ian McCulloch may love the sound of his own voice, but until he learns how to carry a tune, I can't say I love it myself. Also, Rolling Stones. Great show, terrible seats. Poor view, atrocious sound. Gggrrr. AND the most expensive show I ever saw. You..? This is not an exit

Fischerspooner. Love their albums, but the show I saw was by far the worst concert I've ever seen, to this day.

I was really disappointed when I saw George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars. GC was a mess, and the crowd seemed more interested in getting high than the music. Even the cops were ignoring all the smoking going on in the club. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

War with Lonnie Jordan was pretty bad.
Guru's Jazzmatazz back in '93 sucked big time, even Donald Byrd couldn't change that fact. I fell asleep at a Sade concert once. I've seen some very boring Roy Ayers shows, but I've also seen him kick ass. Sergio Mendes was boring and uninspiring. Coolio. I saw him open up for James Brown once and he was the best example for why Hip Hop shows have a bad name. [Edited 4/30/09 8:04am]

I think I misread the title of this threat - I missed the "band/artist you like" part.
For the record, I don't like and have never liked Coolio.

Good thread! I find it harder to be more impressed with concerts as i get older but i was really disappointed with Queens Of The Stone Age. Technically brilliant but lacking any connection between band and audience.

She tried to do EVERY song from EVERY album! It was overwhelming! My fiance at the time woke me up for "Tyrone"- the finale. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I never thought she was that good ... she's a good vocalist, but her music is rather stale.

I love Steve Earle, but I saw a show of his that was horrible. Maybe it was when he was strung out on smack. Whatever the reason, it was obvious he did not want to be there.
I left early. What pissed me off was that I'd seen him many times before and I knew what he was capable of. The Cars also were a disappointment. They just stood there and played their songs. No wordplay, no movement, no nothing. I left the show thinking, "I could have had the exact same experience listening to the album in my closet".

No One i ever saw were BAD I should say...however....Alexander o Neal wasnt that great the second time I saw him..they messed up on the backing instrumentals at the club and he did not have a band this time. He was all sweating and he was late too. Sounded like he was just doing a kareoke set of his hits. Cherrelle made up 4 it though. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I love her two DVDs. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

That was my impression too when I saw him live in concert many years ago. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Ugh! he is annoying! but the energy of the crowd made the mmusic more enjoyable....or maybe I was just catching a contact high from all the wannabe-hippies around smoking up If you will, so will I

I remember seeing George Clinton at Brixton back in the day - the sound was awful, and half his band, including all the horn section, hadn't made it to the show for some reason. After three hours, me and my buddies left to go and listen to the new Time album (Pandemonium) which I'd picked up on import earlier in the day and had been carrying around with me all day.... seemed like a much better option. Fortunately I kept the faith with George and have subsequently seem some stonking shows....
The most disappointing live show for me was Finlay Quaye at the Astoria - he was so spliffed he was incoherent. Ended up playing for 50 minutes, and insisted on playing 'Even After All' three times in such a short set. Not good. [Edited 5/1/09 2:08am]

I actually like some of their stuff. I think "Crash Into Me," "Satellite," "Ants Marching" and all their big singles are great songs. They're pretty much '90s standards.

As for me, hmmmmm.
Goldfrapp [October 2006] I haven't bothered to see them since. And I thought Supernature was an awesome album when I attended the show. They, however, have the worst, most catty fans (at least in NYC, and not counting sextonseven). Or maybe it was just that night. Everything sucked, Allison and her band sucked, their fans sucked. The venue was shit. I just didn't like anything about the experience.

Two years ago,I saw Sly and The Family Stone in concert and it was an odd experience The band came out before him,did three or four songs, then Sly finally came out, played keyboards and sang a little, then disappeared! He was onstage for about ten minutes! When he left the stage, most people got up and left.
Still,I'm thrilled that I got to see him.He's a legend,you know.

Their hits definitely aren't bad, but I was really surprised that I enjoyed the live show as much as I did, since I'm not a fan. There was alot of good energy there If you will, so will I

I can't imagine falling asleep at a concert! I figure she'd be mellow, but really good live...What went wrong for you? When I fell asleep at Erykah Badu, Floetry had opened for her and done their complete set. Then she came out almost 45 minutes later and proceeded to do just about EVERY song from EVERY album she had at the time. It was getting late on a week night, and her show had become tedious. I saw her when she was on that tour! It was a looong show, but I was loving it Of all the songs she did, my friend I went with was dissappointed because she didn't do one song ('Orange Moon')....I was like, "she say like 76 songs tonight, and you're going to whine over 1!?"
