The songs that kick your tail ... every. time.

These are the songs that arrest you, when you're doing something else, when they come on. These are the ones that make you shout with joy, shake your head with emotion and think about things past. The start of my list.

I was thinking about this yesterday...

There are a few songs that when they play, the music dives deep. It goes past the ears, the mind, the soul...
and damn if it aint like when ya sneak a few hot minutes away with your man when you least expected it.

Yesterday it was:
Alice Coltrane - Journey In Satchidananda
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

Dunn & Bruce Street - Shout For Joy - 1982

One of my top anthems ! This feelgood track always gets me uplifted.
Also the bass-synth and those subtle guitar-chops are very infectious.

Hmmm...there are times when I think about certain songs and the affect that they have on me. There are random songs that will get me choked up, and I don't know why. Others are a given...some make you think about the conditions of the world, and how it hasn't changed like we had hoped, yet we hold onto the hope for a better day. Some have a reflective mood, while others take you to a place you don't really want to go, or stay long. It runs the gamut of optimistic to pessimistic. Also, a few songs remind me of childhood.

Flowers - The Emotions
Inner City Blues - Marvin Gaye
Knocks Me Off My Feet - Stevie Wonder
If 60's Was 90's - Jimi Hendrix / The Beautiful People
Emotion - Samantha Sang & Bee Gees
(Olivia) Lost And Turned Out - The Whispers
Darkness - The Police
Waiting For That Day / You Can't Always Get What You Want - George Michael
The Groove Line - Heatwave
Woman - John Lennon
Across The Universe - The Beatles
Baby Come Back - Player
Hurry Up This Way Again - The Stylistics
If God Will Send His Angels - U2
More Than This - Roxy Music
Young Hearts - Candi Staton
Nights Over Egypt - The Jones Girls
Be Grateful/ God Will Open Doors - Walter Hawkins
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."
